      Sundermeier RV Park

My favorite spot in all of St. Louis! The lady who is the owner and the front desk attendant are wonderful and I have never had a problem here with anything! Free WiFi, laundry, and a public shower and bathroom if needed! There’s also cool walking/biking trails and a park with a children’s playground as well! The gas station is also walking distance for any small necessities

      Riverside Landing

My favorite RV spot in St. Charles. It’s pretty quiet minus the cool boats and train but other than that it’s peaceful…also love the price!

      Riverside Landing

      September car camping

Came to Riverside landing on a Tuesday-Thursday for car camping and there was only a few other RVs and one other tent camper. Reserved a spot right on the river, very scenic and quiet. Right by some train tracks so trains do run by, but that was the only loud noise! No restrooms here so bring your own amenities if you aren’t in an RV

      Pin Oak RV Park

      Mostly long term campers

Most of the campers here live here long term. It’s more of a trailer park than a camping spot. They have a pool but most people probably wouldn’t use it. The restrooms and showers or shower, only one for the entire grounds, are 2 stars. If you needed an emergency stop over it would work.

This campground is very well taken care of. The kids had plenty of things to do to stay busy and entertained outside.

    Guide to Smithton

RV campgrounds near Smithton, Illinois provide convenient access to both urban and natural attractions. The area sits at an elevation of around 500 feet above sea level with a humid continental climate featuring hot summers and cold winters. Cell coverage for most carriers remains strong throughout the region, with Verizon users reporting the most consistent service at campgrounds within a 30-mile radius.

    What to do

Katy Trail access: Beyond the Trail RV Park sits adjacent to the Katy Trail, offering direct access for biking or walking. "The Katy trail borders the park for easy access to town. Beautiful views across a large farm field (soy beans when we were here) to the hills beyond with incredible sunsets," notes one camper who enjoyed the trail system.

Fishing opportunities: St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park features a small lake with fishing access. "There is fish in the lake and you are allowed to fish. The ATT cell phone signal is good," reports a visitor who appreciated the lakeside amenities.

Historic district exploration: Nearby St. Charles offers historical attractions accessible from RV parks. "You can literally be parked right at the Katy Trail. Through the gate at the rear of the campground, and you can bike for miles. Easy ride in to St. Charles a wonderful historic river town on the Missouri River," explains a reviewer who enjoyed exploring the area.

    What campers like

Proximity to St. Louis: Cahokia RV Parque provides quick access to downtown St. Louis attractions. "Just minutes across the river from St. Louis. They have a shuttle to the various tourist attractions, just ask the staff at the office for details," states one reviewer who visited multiple attractions from this location.

On-site amenities: Multiple RV campgrounds near Smithton feature desirable on-site facilities. "Everyone was super helpful and friendly. The campsites were a little close together and there were a lot of campers. They've got great amenities: 30/50amp, water, sewer, wifi, pool, showers, fire rings, and a trash dumpster. They even filled up my LP on site," shares a camper who appreciated the full-service approach.

Brewery and winery access: Beyond the Trail RV Park offers unique proximity to local establishments. "This is just a great park. It is located in a sleepy little winery town. It is just a few minutes from the main part of town with multiple beautiful wineries within a few miles," notes a visitor who enjoyed the local beverage options.

    What you should know

Noise considerations: Several RV campgrounds near Smithton deal with noise issues. "Positives: Really nice people at check in. It does have 30 amp service even though this app shows it doesn't. 30 pound water pressure. Nice level concrete pad with a picnic table. Right off highway 370. Opportunities for Improvement: Expensive for what you get. On Lambert international airports flight path, next to a major train trestle, right next to Highway 370," explains a visitor to Sundermeier RV Park.

Reservation requirements: Some parks have specific booking processes. "This campground is clean and convenient to the St Louis area. The Outdoor Recreation unit is very responsive to needs of campers. The nearby lake is scenic and peaceful," notes a visitor to Scott AFB FamCamp.

Weather and flooding risks: Several campgrounds experience seasonal challenges. "We loved how spacious it was. The roads within the campground were double-wide so we had no trouble turning and getting into our spot. The sites were double-wide concrete. We were able to park next to our 5th wheel with enough room to not feel crowded while using the picnic bench," reports a camper who visited during favorable conditions.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park offers facilities for children despite its urban setting. "Even though this RV park is in a city, we felt safe. And its view of the Gateway Arch can't be beat. Easy check in, but the camp host said the shaded spots were too narrow, they were not," comments a family who enjoyed their stay.

Bike rentals: Facilities for family recreation exist at several locations. "There is a lot to do here. They have an archery range. They rent out peddle boats, bikes and peddle cars/buggies as well. We rented a peddle buggy. Those are a lot harder to get moving then they look. Awesome workout for the whole family!" shares a visitor who enjoyed the recreational options.

Swimming options: Some RV parks feature pools during summer months. "I specifically would like to point out things that I look for when booking because I'm usually already on the road when trying to find a place to stay. There was after hours check in! But also a so friendly staff in the office. Beautiful coded bathrooms with showers. They were heated and warm and very well marked," notes a camper who appreciated the family-friendly amenities.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Birch Creek RV Park offers concrete pads that help with setup. "This is a small RV park just off I-44 about 20 minutes from Meramec Caverns. It's very close to the highway so there is lots of highway noise. Some sites are farther away so not so bad. There is easy access from I-44. 30 & 50-Amp Electrical, Water & Sewer Hook-ups. Concrete pads," reports an RVer who appreciated the level sites.

Utility connections: Many RV campgrounds in the Smithton area have specific hookup arrangements. "Utilities are set up weird on all sites - Water and electric are at the very rear of the site by the sewer, so you will need a decent sized hose to reach if your water intake is in the front of your camper," notes a visitor who needed extra hose length.

Gate codes and security: Most Smithton area RV parks prioritize security. "You need a code to get in the gate, so you must register in advance. It was hot in late July and with no trees on the larger sites, it seemed hotter. But the full hookups worked great with no issues," explains an RVer who appreciated the secure access despite the lack of shade.
