pretty and spacious, great for family gatherings

First off, we didn't realize this was a walk-in campground, the details on the Will county site were vague, and the satellite photo showed a paved road.  The road is a path, so the sites are ADA accessible (two of the four sites are paved as well).
We have a small, motorcycle trailer so we…

  • site #2 seen from the path, site #1 is to the right, in the trees
  • algae and duckweed on the water, at least it didn't smell
  • site # 4, site #3 is also ADA and across path on right

Nice weekend getaway close to home

My family loves coming here! The scenery is beautiful, you can fish, hike, or just relax. You're in the Chicago suburbs so it's easy to get to a store or restaurant if you need. It's close to home for us, so it's perfect for a quick camping trip. Only drawback is that it's a little pricey, but the…

Did tent camping here..

Not worth the money. All R v sites are to close. If it rains your in a mud hole. Water smell and next to the high way.

New

Had Electric and Water hookup. Very roomy and level sites. It's about 9 years old, so no trees. No swimming or fishing. Only hiking trails.

Great smaller campground

The front of this park is the typical KOA. Trailer spots, pool, general store. Showers and bathroom are VERY clean and the staff is on top of things. There’s even a small creek that runs through the property giving it more appeal.

This place really shines in the primitive spots in the back of…

Sites better than campsite

The campground itself is pretty basic. The sites were extremely close together. I wish we would have been able to pick it out when we got there, because there are so really. It and open sites. I found 99, 101 and 105 to be the best ones! We stayed at 115 with not much room! The best part about this…

A let down

Grass was tall, several sites were flooded/standing water, felt bad for those campers. Most sites have very very little gravel for car/camper and no gravel around fire ring, just tall grass. Shower house is a joke. 2 showers, 1 stall, 1 urinal for men. No temp control, the hot water is blazing…

A safe spot, beautiful surroundings

We got there in the rain. The site had electricity and water. Standard site. The sites were paved and large. The bathroom near our site was not the greatest, the woman’s room door did not open so we used the men’s room. There is one toilet, which is non-flushable outhouse style. That was not…

So close and so fun

We really like this place and was about a 30 minute rude from our place in the western burbs. Some of the areas best mountain bike single track is right here. There is fishing kayaking and hiking trails too. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. It did get a little noisy at night but that sometimes…

Clean, open, beautiful

This is a wonderful campground with everything accessible for a few days respite. Clean showers, space to walk, gorgeous lake - quiet just outside of the city!

The staff were delightful! - except when I phoned. I was told the campground was fully booked. Many hours and a phone glitch later, we…

Nice location and sites

The place was well run, sites vary from heavily wooded to wide open in grass. A decent amount of tenters mixed in with trailers. The showers were very hot, almost too hot for adults. Camp hosts were excellent.

10/10 would come back

Campsite is not on the same spot as the starved rock or trails. Doesn’t matter. In my opinion, it keeps the traffic down. Nice spots, power available, shower, toilets, pop vending machine. Love this area.

Park is Amazing!

The park is amazing as you can see in the photos.  Many hiking trails,  fishing possibilities and a visitor center with a museum. The campground is very tight.  The road i s very narrow and if someone is trying to move into their spot, you cannot get around them.    The only garbage drops are at…
