Located just due south of the Community Building Complex of Belvidere you’ll discover what looks to be an abandoned wide-open parking lot that has been reserved for anyone visiting this tiny, yet idyllic Midwestern town. The public lot (according to the sign there) has but 1 rule – you can’t stay for longer than 24 hours, although according to town ordinances, you’re good to park from 8pm to 7am. The surface of the lot has definitely seen better days with cracks all over the place and in some places pot holes, so you definitely want to drive at a slow pace until you find the location that’s right for you. The size of this lot, for a small town mind you, is generous and I would describe it as a full city square block (much bigger than a typical small town block). This space sits right in the heart of Belvidere so it’s easy to find and you’ll feel incredibly safe. Bonus points for this place as well as there are a handful of nearby eateries that are definitely worth your time like Coach’s Corner Bar& Grill located just across the street due east or Olivo Taco, which is located due north across the street.
