This 11-unit campground is located in Ponderosa pine trees offering shade on a hot summer day. Sites are located a few miles off the main Hwy 71, so it is peaceful and quiet. This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Once on-site, you may be able to pay for your campsite(s) by scanning a QR code using the Recreation.gov mobile app, and the Scan and Pay feature. If this option is available, you will need to first download the free Recreation.gov mobile app https://www.recreation.gov/mobile-app prior to your arrival as some remote areas have limited or no cellular service.

Eastside Campground is located on the shores of scenic Sagehen Reservoir at an elevation of 4,956 feet. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and exploring the non-motorized Sagehen Reservoir Trail.
Sagehen Reservoir offers great boating, canoeing, and rainbow trout fishing. Boat ramps and docks are located nearby at both Antelope and Sagehen Creek Campgrounds. There is a 15 mph speed limit on the reservoir. Hiking, biking, horse, and ATV trails are abundant in the area. The non-motorized Sagehen Reservoir Trail, a 4-mile loop around the lake, offers great fishing spots, beautiful viewpoints, and wildlife watching opportunities for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The Sagehen and KYAOTT ATV Trail Systems can be accessed near the reservoir, offering more than 35 miles of trails for ATVs and motorcycles, but hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders can enjoy these trails as well.
The campground is situated in a forest of towering Ponderosa pine, Engelmann spruce, Douglas fir, and grand fir. Most sites have plentiful shade. Summer temperatures range from 80 to 90-degree days to cooler nights. A variety of berries and mushrooms can be found throughout the area. Local wildlife includes deer, elk, black bear, goshawk, woodpeckers, and boreal owls.

Buck Park Cabin is located on Cuddy Mountain, in the Payette National Forest of central Idaho. Guests enjoy the remote area for its hunting opportunities and abundance of hiking, biking, horseback riding and off-road vehicle trails. The cabin sits at an elevation of 7,280 feet within Buck Park, a scenic meadow surrounded by a dense conifer forest. Rush Lake, Hornet and Lower Hornet reservoirs are nearby. This very rustic cabin can accommodate a maximum of three people. Metal cots are provided, but guests must bring their own sleeping bags. A wood stove is provided for heat and cooking. No plumbing or electricity is available. A vault toilet is located outside. Guests must bring water, food, bedding and firewood. High clearance vehicles are recommended for accessing Buck Park Cabin. Further, access to Buck Park Cabin will be challenging if snow has fallen (more likely after mid-October).
The cabin sits near small Rush Lake, which offers fishing opportunities. Hornet and Lower Hornet lakes are a short distance away. The North Fork of the Payette River is a very popular location for expert kayaking. Whitewater rafting is nearby on the Main and South Fork sections of the Payette River. Anglers will find good to excellent fishing for whitefish and rainbow trout.

Reading the other reviews made me a little unsure, but I went for it. The location is outstanding and my site is right on the river. The sites aren’t real obvious so I kind of made it up as I went. There is trash everywhere. The fire pits are all full of trash. And a little mowing or weed eating would help. To be honest, all the campgrounds I’ve been to this trip have been covered in trash and dog feces. It’s obvious service has gone the way of the dinosaurs. Keep your expectations low!!!
LegendWe have stayed many times and loved it. But now the place had about seven campers. Most sites had reserved stickers on them . The few remaining had signs say check on line. Our cellular service was too weak to check on line sadly. All the best riverfront sites over by the huts said reserved which I believe translates to out of service. There's normally electricity, water and a picnic table at these sites. A fire swept by the boundary of the park and partly through it to the river.

We have a 38' 5th wheel pulled with a dually pickup. It was a tight fit, but after we were parked, it was awesome. We were in space #5. After unhooking, we did park the pickup across the lane in space they have for extra vehicles. Hook ups were simple. Although the sewer pipe at our site was a little high, so we had to really use risers under our drain pipe to get it to that level. Other sites seemed ground level.
When we left the next morning, we did have to pull out the "entrance" lane, as the angle of the space and smaller area, we couldn't turn sharp enough for the exit lane.
We could watch the sunset over the Snake River from out campsite. No bugs and lots of shade. Quiet campground.......except the duck hunters on other properties.
We didn't use the restrooms, etc. there.
They have very nice metal fire pits and a decent picnic table at each site. If you needed to stay in a cabin, they looked very nice. The larger one with the bathroom, was a beautiful site.
The price was great, especially for full hookups. I wish we could have stayed more than one night.
We would definitely stay there again.
ScoutWe planned to stop here on a let of our trip and found the park closed. Their website explains that there is an issue with the water system. Check their website before heading out there.
ScoutThe cabin we reserved for two nights was such a disappointment, becasue of the time we arrived we forced ourselves to stay one night. The floors were not clean and sleeping on the bed provided was like sleeping on a pie tin. it crinkled and cracked everytinme you moved. The cabin door you could not lock and the bathroom was unbelievably dirty. The shower was more like a drip.
ScoutWe stayed 2 nights. The neighbors next to us drank all day and all night. There is supposed to be a noise curfew. It wasn't enforced. It was horrible. When they were asked to quiet down. They said nope and proceeded to say I hope you enjoy us and our parties.
The bathrooms... horror movie material! Showers, I'm pretty sure have never been cleaned. There was large mice or rat feces every where. Spiders in the showers. No water pressure. I have seen dirty bathrooms as I own my own cleaning business. This bathroom took dirty, disgusting to a whole née level

GuideClose to the hwy (which does mean some noise), but very handy if you just need a place to pull in. The staff were very friendly. The sites were situated well. The lake however was very low, so not much to see there. The views around the park were nice.
GuidePretty view of the river. Campground looks like a farm storage area overall with the basketball court covered by a dog kennel, and junk lying about everywhere. Swim area is pretty mucky and shallow. Swim dock is barely in the water. There was a wasp nest in the electric hookup for our site and no one around to tell. In fact, we never saw anyone affiliated with the campground that we could tell. Cabins seemed super cute from what we could see. It has a lot of potential but needs some TLC. Bathrooms were clean and free showers that were too.

I enjoyed the fact that you can kayak from the camp area on the Snake River, and within just a couple miles, you officially kayaked to Oregon.
We found a local vineyard that is a pleasure to visit. Good food, good wine and a great view of the vineyard while eating.
The owners (Megan/Turk), made the camping trip wonderful. Full time RV for them, they seem to have a way of making you feel like family at the camp fire. Very down to earth and easy going.

Travelerwhen the weather warms up in the spring this is a great place to catch channel catfish in the shallows. I live in Caldwell and take my motor home here occasionally just for the quiet serenity. and the fishing, is not bad at all (in the spring) if you're just looking for some nice quiet peaceful time down by the river they will let you pull your motor home right down there close. fairly close anyway. I recommend it.
