Beautiful Spot North of Salmon

We stayed here in August of 2020. The campground was nice and felt secluded. It got busy towards the weekend but it was still quiet. During our stay we learned this campground is popular for people who love to pick huckleberries. We went on a drive to get some just to find out they were all around…

Small and quaint with charming location

Wonderful location with very little wifi services. If you want to relax in a very nice, park setting, surrounded by mountains, this would be your place.

Big spaces in the middle area. Smaller spots on the river. Modest but competent shower and laundry room.

Would stay again.

Great Getaway

We spent better than two weeks at Alta while fishing the surrounding creeks, running our side by side up and down the mountain roads and soaking in the mineral pool of Horse Creek Hot Springs. The campground is an excellent place to relax in the out of doors. A long with having sizable campsites…

Love this campground !

Nice campground! We stayed in Space #1 which is the most private! Picnic tables and fire pits are provided. They have pit toilets and our space was nicely shaded. Our 5th wheel is 28 feet long. The road is paved as are the sites! Interesting history on the campground name.

Nice, quiet, peaceful

I enjoyed staying here, the hot springs/campground nearby were closed (and for sale) so this was a pleasant suprise and respite. The spaces are far enough apart that you feel like you have privacy. The history here is the Indians would strip the bark from the ponderosa pines to get to the edible…

Wonderful, we had SO much fun!

Great location closer to the north side of the park near Wise. Was great falling asleep to the sound of the river. Everything in the park was a short drive away. Campsite was clean, good spots to pitch the tent. Vault toilet was clean and had a fresh bottle of hand sanitizer. Highly recommend…

Not for Digital Nomads

If you want complete solitude from the internet and TV this is the place for you to reconnect with nature. (see video)

Being new RV'ers we didn't do our due diligence before booking, we went by pictures and the park did their part.  They said poor internet and poor cell service we just didn't…

Great campsite

May creek is a wonderful campground... it’s in a gorgeous cabin and it’s easy to find. The campsites have fire pits and picnic tables. It’s not that far from the highway which is nice if your looking to explore the area. It’s peaceful and quiet, and not busy.

15 miles off the path

Overall it was a great campsite. There are currently 17 camping spots with a cabin as well. The campsite is located right on the lake and it’s about a 15 mile commute on a gravel road to get there. If your plan is to stay at the campsite for the duration of your visit I would recommended it. But if…

ROMBO; the best spot for the lake

I reserved this a month or so in advance, a big recommendation from me, it is around 3 miles to get to the beautiful and majestic Painted Rocks lake. Camp hosts were great, I think it was Rombo Sharon/Shannon and a great guy by her side for managing the ground. Bear containers, pit toilets, potable…

Perfect

Great tree cover, clean vaults, river between you and the byway, all you hear it's the water. Some disperse camping past the turnaround at the end.

Great place!

We went there with two tents. The sites are large and there are enough space for more than 2 or 3 tents easily. The sites are well organized and clean, the bathrooms are well maintained and the camping is pretty close to the lake, you can reach the lake with a 3 - 5 minutes walk. We had a really…

Quiet and clean

Amazing drinking water, very clean bathrooms, nicely kept sites. There are 5 FCFS sites and the others are reservable. The camps hosts are a little quirky but very nice and informative. Most sites are a bit hilly and you either have to walk uphill or downhill to your table and fire pit. Beautiful…

Peaceful

The camp hosts were informative and friendly. The sites and toilets were very clean. Sites on the river or just off. Easy trails to the river to relax and enjoy.
