small campground by the lake

Stayed one night at the end of May. The road along Oneida Narrows is good graded gravel. At the base of the dam, a sign recommends against large RVs and towed vehicles so I scouted it first, but it's ok, just a little rutted in places. The campground is small, 12 spaces. I suggest not towing a camper that's longer than 20 ft or so, due to the general smallness of the pull ins and the narrowness of the road. Sites have picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets that were reasonably clean. No water or trash service. There is access to the reservoir shore, but it has a lot of aquatic growth near the shore, which i don't like. So many fish jumping, big ones! I don't know what they were. It was about half full when I was there mid week. Quiet except when the neighbor was playing his trumpet -- are you kidding me?!?! No cell service, Verizon.  Nice shade from the maples. Surrounding ridges are scenic.

Nice

Nice little campground however quite a drive down a dirty dusty road to get to. It was crowded at the campsite however most camping during covid have been. Camphost was great. Even the skunks that visited our campsite nightly were friendly 😬 Bathrooms are pit toilets, need a little bit of work. overall enjoyed the stay as it was right on a reservoir with easy access to water activities and tubing the Oneida narrows

Beautiful But Condensed

The Maple Grove Campground has some beautiful views of Oneida Narrows Reservoir and great access to the shoreline. There are no beaches, but there is a dock that allows swimmers to get away from the mushy shore. The campground is right on Oneida Narrows Rd so it is a little dusty. Most drivers are courteous, some were not.

The camp hosts kept the vault toilets pretty clean and well stocked with toilet paper. The fire pits and grills were well maintained. There was random ash near each of them due to improper cleanup.
