River access defines the experience at Isabella Landing Camp, a US Forest Service site within Clearwater National Forest in northern Idaho. Sites line the river, though campers should note that a boat take-out area nearby sees trailer traffic, which can affect the flat spots across from it. Vault toilets are on-site. The rough access road and boat-in option suit anglers, paddlers, and wildlife viewers who regularly use places to camp around Clearwater National Forest as a base for fishing and hiking the surrounding terrain.
Description
This trailhead, located at the junction of Isabella Landing and FS Road 700, offers access to trail 297, the North Fork Downriver Trail. The 7 mile mainline trail takes visitors into one of our Research Natural Areas, home of many rare plants, and through beautiful fern populations under old growth cedar trees. The trail ends at the lovely Salmon Creek. Motocyclists are allowed on this trail, but ATVs are not.
