Fishing and river access draw campers to Washington Creek Campground, where the North Fork of the Clearwater River flows past several riverside sites. This Forest Service campground operates from May through October, providing vault toilets and seasonal drinking water access along with a group site for larger parties.
The campground sits across a bridge from the main road, creating distance from traffic noise. Sites range from open riverside spots to shaded areas among Douglas fir groves, with stairs near one vault toilet leading down to the water. Katherine B. notes "several riverside spots including one group site as well as shady groves," though she cautions the water runs "cold and fast." The open terrain accommodates larger RVs, while forest sites offer more privacy among ferns and native vegetation.
Campers report good fishing opportunities and wildlife viewing along the river corridor. The cold, fast-moving water provides relief during summer heat, though swimming requires caution due to the current. Day rates run $10 per night for sites without hookups, making this an affordable base for exploring the broader campgrounds near Clearwater National Forest region.
Note that pets are not permitted at this campground, and water service may be intermittent depending on seasonal maintenance schedules.
