Salmon National Forest Hawley Creek Upper Campground is located near Leadore, Idaho. The area features forested terrain with elevations that can influence temperatures, ranging from lows in the 30s Fahrenheit in spring and fall to highs in the 80s during summer. Nearby, visitors can explore the Continental Divide Trail and the historic ghost town of Gilmore.

Description

National Forest

The upper campground has 6 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings, and also has vault toilets and potable water. Fishing nearby in Hawley Creek, and in the reservoir. The Hawley Creek Trail is less than 2 miles long, but is rather difficult, gaining over 1000 feet in elevation over the distance. Motorized vehicles (ATVs, motorcycles), are allowed on the trail, but not off trail. There is a spur trail to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The trail opens up into grasslands toward the top. Please pack out your trash.

The Hawley Creek Campground is 8 miles southeast of Leadore. Follow Highway 29 east of Leadore, 1 and 1/4 mile, turn right on the county dirt road and go 6 miles to the junction, Forest Service Road #275. Follow road 4 and 1/2 miles east up Hawley Creek to Hawley Creek Upper Campground on the right
