Salmon National Forest manages this established campground along Hawley Creek in the Lemhi Range east of Leadore, Idaho. The terrain runs open, with creek and lake access nearby. No pets are permitted. The campground operates year-round, though conditions in the Salmon National Forest at elevation can limit practical access in winter months. Campers wanting a developed alternative nearby can consider Hawley Creek, a related site roughly half a mile to the southwest.
Description
The upper campground has 6 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings, and also has vault toilets and potable water. Fishing nearby in Hawley Creek, and in the reservoir. The Hawley Creek Trail is less than 2 miles long, but is rather difficult, gaining over 1000 feet in elevation over the distance. Motorized vehicles (ATVs, motorcycles), are allowed on the trail, but not off trail. There is a spur trail to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The trail opens up into grasslands toward the top. Please pack out your trash.

The Hawley Creek Campground is 8 miles southeast of Leadore. Follow Highway 29 east of Leadore, 1 and 1/4 mile, turn right on the county dirt road and go 6 miles to the junction, Forest Service Road #275. Follow road 4 and 1/2 miles east up Hawley Creek to Hawley Creek Upper Campground on the right
