Within Salmon National Forest, Hawley Creek provides a Forest Service campground that accommodates RVs up to 30 feet in length. The campground operates year-round and sits in open terrain near both a creek and lake. Located about half a mile from Salmon National Forest Hawley Creek Upper Campground, this established site offers basic camping facilities managed by the US Forest Service. The proximity to water features makes it suitable for campers who want lake and creek access, while the open layout works well for larger recreational vehicles within the length restrictions.
Description
The lower campground has 4 sites and also has potable water. Fishing in Hawley Creek, and in the reservoir. The Hawley Creek Trail is less than 2 miles long, but is rather difficult, gaining over 1000 feet in elevation over the distance. Motorized vehicles (ATVs, motorcycles), are allowed on the trail, but not off trail. There is a spur trail to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. The trail opens up into grasslands toward the top.
