Bureau of Land Management maintains this free campground on rough access roads near Herd Lake in Idaho's high country. The no-pets policy sets it apart from most BLM sites in the region. Campers find fishing opportunities at both the adjacent lake and nearby creek, though the challenging road conditions require high-clearance vehicles or careful navigation in standard cars.
The BLM Herd Lake Campsite & Overlook sits less than half a mile away for those wanting additional options. Bring extra water and supplies, as the remote location means no services nearby.
