Withlacoochee State Forest - Annutteliga Hammock Trail

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Accessible via long, winding forest roads, Withlacoochee State Forest - Annutteliga Hammock Trail sits well inside the tree cover of the Annutteliga Hammock unit, roughly 9 miles northwest of campgrounds near Brooksville. The $15 per night fee covers a drive-in site with electric and water hookups, drinking water, toilets, and trash service. No showers are on-site. Cell service drops off once you leave the main road, so download maps and directions before arriving. Trails connect directly from the campsite, and nearby caves, including those accessible via Trail 22, add a notable side trip. The adjacent Annutteliga Hammock Unit Primitive Camp Zone offers a more primitive alternative 2.1 miles north.

Campers regularly cited the clean, wooded setting with direct trail access and nearby attractions like caves and springs. However, expect no cell service or shower facilities at this remote forest location.

Great for hiking and cave exploring

The area is amazing. The roads are open and long and winding. Right in the middle of the woods, the campground is awesome and very clean. There are trails directly off of the site and even caves. Underground caves. I couldn’t believe it but such a great experience. Only downside is there is no showers.

Google trail 22 and peace caves to find them.

So beautiful

Lots of things; lots of history, even several caves in the citrus part of the withlacoochee forest. Google trail 22 for the closest entrance.

Great primitive camping

In the middle of the state forest. Lots of cool things nearby such as wildlife areas, springs, crystal river, Ocala...

Definitely don’t expect to have service once you’re off the road!!
