Annutteliga Hammock Unit Primitive Camp Zone

Description

The Annutteliga Hammock Unit Primitive Camp Zone is located within the Citrus Tract, Annutteliga Hammock Unit of Withlacoochee State Forest, (Citrus County), just less than 10 miles northwest of Brooksville, FL. This hike in and hike out site is accessible from the Annutteliga Hammock Trailhead. There is no water or restroom, but some sites may have a fire ring, picnic table and trash receptacle. The camp zone is designate by yellow color bands on trees and is one half mile from the trailhead. Recreational activities featured here are: hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, star gazing, wildflower viewing and nature study.

Please contact WSF Dispatch at 352-797-4100 before you begin each day of your outing to verify if prescribed burning will be taking place that day.
This is a Wildlife Management Area. It is recommended that visitors wear 500 square inches of Blaze Orange while hiking in the area during hunting seasons.
Per Florida Administrative Code, 5I-4006(4)(k), Chainsaw use in camping facilities is prohibited.
Operation/use of chainsaws in other areas of the forest requires a Fuel Wood Permit

Directions

Exiting the north end of Suncoast Parkway (SR589), turn right onto SR98 (Ponce De Leon Blvd) heading south. Travel 3.8 miles to Citrus Way (C-491), turn left (north) and travel approximately 1.8 miles and arrive at Annutteliga Hammock on the left. State Forest sign will be on your left at the entrance. If you reach W. Honeybee Lane you have gone too far.
