Electric, water, and sewer hookups make Richloam Tract Primitive Camp Zone North an established drive-in campground within Florida's Withlacoochee State Forest system near Brooksville. The forested setting provides shade and natural screening between sites, while full hookups accommodate RVs requiring all utilities. Campers can reserve sites in advance and bring pets along for their stay.
Hiking and biking trails wind through the surrounding forest tract, giving visitors access to explore the broader Withlacoochee system on foot or by bike. Campfires are permitted within designated areas. For a different experience, River Junction Campground — Withlacoochee State Forest offers an alternative setting just northwest of this location.
Description
The Richloam Tract Primitive Camp Zone North is located within the Richloam Tract of Withlacoochee State Forest (Sumter County), about 20 miles east of Brooksville, FL. This campground is a hike in and hike out site only. There is no water and there are no amenities, although some areas may have a fire ring and/or picnic table. The camp zone is delineated by yellow colored bands on the trees and is approximately four miles from the parking area. Recreational activities featured here are: hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, star gazing, wildflower viewing and nature study.
Horseback Riding - On forest roads only. No designated trails.

No potable water, no restrooms, it is suggested trail users wear bright colored clothing during hunting season.

The Florida Forest Service will close all campgrounds and recreation areas on State Forests if the county where the State Forest is located is placed under a Tropical Storm or Hurricane WARNING by the National Weather Service. Reservations will be automatically refunded for closures related to tropical weather.

Directions
From Interstate 75 north to Exit 301, bear right onto the exit ramp, turn right (east) on SR-50/US Hwy 98 S and continue to go east on SR-50. You will cross US-301 continuing east on SR-50, you will then turn right (south) onto Clay Sink Road and go approximately 1 mile to the trailhead parking area at the Richloam Fire Tower on the westside of Clay Sink Road. You will be east of CR-575 and west of SR-471.
