A good weekend getaway

I have been here a couple times now. I still enjoy camping at this location. The wildlife during the day is awesome to see on the water and then at night the animal life comes alive at a certain point at night. The coyotes at night is one of the coolest things to listen to at night. Do be scared get out and find adventure.

Gotta really want to be there.

The road in called SW 113 ST was hardcore off road muddy driving. We pay for the sites so the road in could have been a lot less treacherous. Potholes all the way to the site. Site 18 was perfectly secluded compared to the other sites which were rather close to one another. Water spicket worked with even water flow. Only issue was loud music late into the night.

Great place to camp

We enjoyed our stay out there at river junction campground. We enjoyed the water and the trails in the area. The day time nature is great. Then at night we got to hear different creatures of the night.

Nice scenery

We went here after our Hog Island stay this place is pretty nice. The camp site we have has a pretty view and it's a good sized site. Some areas at this campground are smaller and in the sun so try to find a spot that fits what you are looking for. Unless you are a RV then nvm haha.

Update

I just wanted to update the review. As of mid January, 2021…sites are covid spaced, no host, all sites are reserve only .

I have camped here several times, in different seasons. Late spring into summer river is high and fast. This time of year low and slow. By March/April its really low. Now, in mid Jan, its still easy to get to the "lake" , later on you may have to portage a short way depending on rainfall.

Camping there has always been fun, its almost dry camping, shower's hot. Not for big rigs (go to silver lake) no elec. $15 + fee

Campsites are actually on the Little Withlacoochee river..with makes a junction with the... Withlacoochee!

Very wooded sites.

I love this campground & have stayed here many times over the past 15 years. Pets are NOT allowed. I just wanted to clarify, since the listing states they are. Bathrooms are decent and the showers have hot water. Sites 1 thru 3 are walk up only. These are also the only sites you can pay cash for. All the others are available on reserveamerica.com only. Most cell phones have spotty reception here, but all the better for camping. There are plenty of places to kayak, canoe, and fish. The host is very nice & helpful. He has his hands full. Since this campground has become more popular, some guests are scum bags & throw garbage & empty beer cans in the woods surrounding the sites. There is pretty constant noise from the interstate & weekends can be loud. Be aware, it may be very difficult to get large RV's in the sites. The trip into the campground is very bumpy & narrow, with low hanging trees.

Kayakers read review

Very cool little place for primitive camping. All the sites are cut out so that you have some privacy from the neighboring sites. There are a couple of sites that you can't reserve, first come first serve, pay in cash at the iron ranger. Site 1 is that way and you could paddle into it. 14 and 16 can be reserved and also@ paddled into. Most sites have water and there is a bathroom/showers with really hot water.
