Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground houses luxury glamping accommodations within a 750-acre forested setting minutes from Orlando's theme parks. The resort features glamping cabins with full kitchens, comfortable beds with linens, climate control, and private bathroom facilities. Lake Louisa State Park Campground complements the options with glamping yurts that blend wilderness immersion with creature comforts. Both locations provide electricity, water hookups, and sanitary facilities while maintaining a natural environment with tree coverage and wildlife viewing opportunities. The accommodations range from rustic-chic canvas tents to furnished cabins with modern amenities, allowing guests to experience the outdoors without sacrificing comfort. A recent visitor mentioned, "It's Disney in the woods. You can rent a cabin. The place is huge and I highly recommend getting around by bike or golf cart."

Wekiwa Springs State Park's glamping cabins connect visitors to natural springs and hiking trails while providing essential comforts like electricity and running water. Activities at Orlando glamping destinations include swimming in Fort Wilderness's two pools, boating on East Lake Tohopekaliga at Boggy Creek Resort, airboat rides, fishing, canoeing, and wildlife observation. The proximity to Orlando attractions means guests can experience Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or SeaWorld during the day before returning to their luxury canvas accommodations at night. One guest highlighted, "Disney magic plus camping... what else can I say. Great facilities, great atmosphere." Seasonal decorations, especially during holidays, enhance the glamping experience, with some resorts offering special events, character meet-and-greets, and evening entertainment that combines outdoor adventure with resort-style amenities.

      Cape Kennedy RV Resort

Old Florida RV Comfort Near I-95

Pulling into Cape Kennedy RV Resort just off I-95 in Mims felt like stepping into a haven of wide skies and gentle breezes, where the lush shade trees and relaxed layout of this RV park immediately invited us to exhale and settle into a slower pace after a long day on the road. The RV sites are roomy and shaded, giving you that sense of being tucked into nature even though you’re just minutes from the highway, and the clean, well-maintained facilities make set-up feel effortless. One of my favorite moments here was watching the boys gather sticks for a small, post-dinner campfire while fireflies blinked around the grassy edge of our site and the river reflected the last warm colors of sunset, laughter and simple chatter weaving into a perfect end-of-day memory. The best campsites are the ones located on the western side of the property where you can wake up to the chirping of birds, covered by solid shade while sipping your morning coffee, which makes lingering here feel like a little slice of calm amidst the journey. We’d recommend Cape Kennedy RV Resort for families who appreciate EZ interstate access, shady, beautifully spaced sites, and a blend of nature and convenience.

      Manatee Hammock Campground

      Convenient Location

This campground is close to Kenedy Space Center and Merritt Island. It has full hookups and plenty of amenities. Restrooms are clean. Some of the sites are quite small, but there are plenty of large sites for big rigs.

      Lake Dorr Dispersed

      Lake Dorr Dispersed Camping

Spent two nights here again. Sept. 27th and 28th. During the day time there were a lot of Love Bugs. My camping kitty loved chasing them. At night or at sun down I was bombarded with bugs. Even if I tried to attract them to a higher light and I was in the dark, didn't help. So this time of the year, sunset = go inside.

Also, the description above is wrong.

This dispersed camping area within Ocala National Forest DOES NOT provide water hookups, restrooms, and picnic tables along with standard amenities like trash service and campfire permissions.

The campground DOES NOT maintain water availability throughout the site and DOES NOT HAVE ANY clean restroom facilities.

Other than that, I will be back.

      Lake Dorr Dispersed

      Lake Dorr Dispersed camping

Spent two nights here again. September 27th and 28th. This is a great dispersed camping area. You only need to know your limits with soft sand. During the day there were a lot of love bugs and the water was great. As soon as the sun sets, at this time of the year the bugs were terrible. Even if you tried to attract them up in the air with a Devos light you will be bombarded. Sunset = go inside. Other than the night time bugs, it's a great place. I will be back.

      Orlando/Kissimmee KOA

      Needs Some Work

Grass is beyond high. Little dogs can get lost in the grass. Some of the pavers near the pool stairs are lifting to where you need to watch your step or it pinches your foot.

The pros- centrally located. Clean pool. Not too busy of a campground. Large places.

      Lake Louisa State Park Campground

      Lake Louisa State Park

Nice state park. Plenty of lakes, but also plenty of gators at this time; hatching season. Wide open space, great roads. Not all sites have sewer hookups, it’s worth finding out which one before booking, if it is important for you. Even glamping tents and cabins are available, cabins are right next to the lake. Swimming area at Lake Louisa has a playground with swings and even a beach/swimming area, but that seems awfully dangerous, given the noises the gators make about 30 feet away. Unfortunately there is not a lot of things to do near the state park if one wants to do anything outside of camping, at least not a lot I could find, maybe you are better at that. Apparently it is very popular with bikers and triathletes, I have seen at least 10 today, using the great roads.

      Manatee Hammock Campground

Busy Park on the Indian River

Some campsites are close but the nice dog park and the location near Kennedy Space Center made me not mind so much. Great place to watch launches. Staff is friendly and park facilities are well looked after. The tent sites are on grass but close enough to the river to get cooling breezes in hotter months.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

      Something a bit magical

I know, I know, it’s not real camping. But I love it just the same. I love coming here even if I never step foot inside the theme parks. There plenty to do here. You can rent golf carts or bring your own. I love just driving around on the golf carts. They have campfires and trivia. Outside movies. The Trails End to get food at.

Horse stables. Halloween time is the best time to come. I love looking at everyone’s decorations.

      Manatee Hammock Campground

Quiet, spaced out sites, nice dock on the water

The campsite is clean and friendly. The spaces between sites is nice with trees! Great dock on the water to watch dolphins! Nice big dog park too!

    Guide to Orlando

Orlando's glamping options extend beyond the manicured themed accommodations, with campgrounds situated across Central Florida's diverse landscape. The region sits at a mere 82 feet above sea level, creating a predominantly flat camping terrain with occasional rolling hills at sites like Lake Louisa. Summer humidity reaches 90% with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F, while winter nights can unexpectedly drop to the 40s even at luxury camping destinations.

    What to do

Kayaking on East Lake Tohopekaliga: Launch directly from Boggy Creek Resort & RV Park where you can enjoy paddling while watching for native wildlife. "We stayed there for a month from the middle of June to the middle of July in 2021... If you're a boater or fisherman, there is a dock for fishing off of and a boat ramp for putting your watercraft into the lake," reports Cindy W.

Rocket launches viewing: Titusville's Manatee Hammock Campground offers unobstructed views of Kennedy Space Center launches across the Indian River. "This is a nice campground that's located right on the intercoastal waterway right across from Kennedy Space Center. We saw two rocket launches while here," shares Dave D.

Hiking through pine forests: The rolling hills at Lake Louisa State Park Campground offer rare elevation changes for Florida with multiple trail systems. "This park has lots to offer - great trails for hiking and biking, boat launches, fishing, or just relaxing. We stayed at site #43 which has water/elec. hookup, dump station near by," notes Cyndi B.

    What campers like

Natural springs access: Campers value the refreshing 72-degree spring water at Wekiwa Springs State Park Campground, though timing matters. "Wekiwa was an amazing place to camp and spend our weekend. The park offers hiking, biking, day swimming, a food grill, a canoe/kayak launch and rental, plus tons of wildlife! However, a weekday is best to visit the spring and river. On the weekend there were tons of people in the park," advises Jenn B.

Disney-adjacent accommodations: The structured glamping experience at Orlando/Kissimmee KOA provides proximity to attractions without the premium price of on-property options. "This was the perfect location for our touristy vacation! Most shopping and restaurants are within a 5-10 minute drive. And all the tourist attractions are within 30 minutes: Walt Disney World 15 minutes, Universal Studios 23 minutes, SeaWorld 17 minutes," reports Brandie B.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Early mornings offer the best chance to spot native species. "There is an abundance of wildlife including Sand Hill Cranes (which serenaded us every morning and barked their unhappiness when we walked near them during our daily treks around the park), Peacocks, Herons, Tortoises, and Alligators," observed one camper at Boggy Creek Resort.

    What you should know

Seasonal crowds and capacity limits: State parks fill quickly during peak periods. "If you go on a weekend, make sure you go EARLY! Line of car starts around 9am and park will close at capacity," warns Hannah S. about Wekiwa Springs.

Site spacing varies significantly: Thousand Trails Orlando offers different sections with varying privacy levels. "Not one I would come back too at such a high point in RV travel. In a few rows, you share the yard patch with another camper, and the pie is small," notes Robert K.

Transportation considerations: Many Orlando glamping destinations require additional transportation. "Rent a golf cart if you don't have one. Transportation was OK and the Tavern was very nice," suggests Donald M. regarding Fort Wilderness.

Weather preparedness: Florida's quick-changing weather patterns affect glamping experiences. "We camped for three nights and loved it! Yes it rained most of the time but our site never flooded!! Such a nice view of the sunset from where we were," shares Caitlyn P. about her Wekiwa Springs stay.

    Tips for camping with families

Accessibility assistance: Some parks offer special accommodations for families with mobility needs. At Wekiwa Springs, "Jane, one of the park rangers informed us about the ramp for wheelchairs, and a lift into the water! She was so helpful," reports Lauren W., who was camping with her grandchildren.

Kid-friendly amenities: Seek out campgrounds with dedicated children's areas. "Very Friendly staff. Several activities possible for children eg pool, skating jumping etc. Late arrival possible. Good WiFi and laundry facilities and even a gym," notes L B. about Orlando/Kissimmee KOA.

Off-peak visits recommended: School breaks create significant crowd increases at Orlando glamping destinations. "Being handicapped, the springs were a mile from the campground, which is a problem for people having difficulty walking. My husband pushed me there in the wheelchair," shares Lauren W. about navigating Wekiwa Springs during busy periods.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Choose sites carefully based on your specific needs. "Our site, 2, was a handicapped one, and beautiful. Restrooms directly behind us. Beautiful tall shady trees. A very clean park," shares Lauren W. about her Wekiwa Springs experience.

Navigation challenges: Some glamping sites require careful maneuvering. "Holy moly did it take a lot to get this into our spot. Our neighbor across from us had to move his truck and several neighbors were helping direct us into our spot. Everyone we spoke with complained about the lack of space to get a big rv into these spot," reports Samantha O.

Extended stay considerations: Monthly glamping options provide significant savings. "This park is impeccable with newly updated bath houses, laundry facilities, 2 pools, playground, camp store, mail room, pickle ball and tennis courts, new basketball court and dock to launch kayaks, boats or fish from," notes Brandie B. about Thousand Trails Orlando, where many spend entire winter seasons.
