It’s okay

Just a corporation with an RV park. Nothing special and a bit overpriced for the location.

Sun Outdoors

We stayed at Sun Outdoors in St. Augustine for five days at the beginning of September. This park is clean, quiet, nice amenities, and has decent wifi. We stayed in the Oasis section and the sites are upgraded a bit with pavers rather than a gravel pad. Our only complaint is that the drainage at our site, #138, wasn't great. The entrance to our site always had standing water. This didn't seem to be a common issue across the park, but we did see several other sites that were experiencing the same large puddling problems.

Clean, Friendly Staff

Stayed here for about a week. Great location, clean facilities, helpful and friendly staff. Lots of things for kids to do at the campground (pool, playground, cornhole, ping pong table, fishing pond, etc). Had a small issue with the water hookup when we first arrived but their maintenance guys quickly rectified it. The only down side is that the cell service (for both T-Mobile and Verizon) didn’t work very well, and the Wi-Fi is iffy at best. Would definitely visit again.

Compass RV Park Spring Break 2021

We stayed here during Spring Break as it was the only thing available in Saint Augustine when we booked. However, we really enjoyed the park. It was close to the beaches and all major attractions. The pool was nice and there was a basket ball court, corn hole and table tennis as well as a small playground. Since we booked late we were in what was considered a buddy site which was a little different since we had a neighbor facing our site who we didn’t know but still we had a great time and my kids made several new friends. The bathrooms were clean and there was a laundry area with a separate laundry for washing pet bedding. The park was almost separated into 2 sections with the sites in the back having mixed paved pads while the ones in the front were gravel. There were several trails through the campground and there was an off leash dog park as well. All in all we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely return in the future.

Spacious and clean

We enjoyed our stay here. Very pleased with our campsite…it was a huge corner lot with pavers. We only stayed for 2 nights and it rained for the first couple of days. The website advertises fishing but when I asked the front desk about it they said the only fishing spot was a tiny pond in the back. The staff was friendly and helpful and the facilities were clean.

St Augustine

Very friendly and helpful from the time you pull up until we pulled out. Very clean and had a great pull in site. One of the best shaded and private sites. Will go back and stay longer.

Not our gavorite

The campsite was clean but we were on a corner lot where 3 small streets intersected. Way to much noise and very busy. There was also no shade on this spot. There was a nice laundry area and fenced in dog area. The spots were cramped. This is a very commercialized campground. Not really an off the grid kind of campground.

September 2020 trip

Great pavered sites and quick drive to St Augustine. Our first trip with our dogs. Good campground for pets. While it was quite rainy, we still enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

Very Nice and convenient to St Augustine

Have stayed here several times, very comfortable. They have entertainment on some weekends and a large fire pit near the pool for groups and cook outs. Before the COVID they had breakfast on Saturday morning. Very nice campground. Reservations recommended!

Exceeded Expectations

Compass RV Resort was easy to get to. We followed the campground instructions versus our GPS. Check in was a breeze as they came out to our rig and gave us a good rundown on the CG then escorted us to site 126 in the newer Oasis area. This site had FHUs that were smartly placed midway down along the stone paver pad. Back-in was a breeze. We were glad we paid the fee to reserve a specific site as this site was probably one of the very best and most spacious in the CG. Our site had more front area lawn plus bushes that separated us from the next site. We also had to pay$3 per night for our 2 pups. The pull through sites were quite close to each other where the back in sites provided more room, this was especially true near the front of the CG. This was a large CG that was fairly full throughout our 6 nights stay but surprisingly quiet. You could hear some road noise but it was not too bad. We were in the far back of the CG but if you were more towards the office/entry you would have a lot more road noise. Their cable worked well plus there were multiple OTA channels. Some people had their satellite dishes out too. Most sites in the Oasis area would support satellite, as well as the pull through sites near the middle of the park. The older sites near the entrance had many more trees. We were surprised that we only got 2 bars on Verizon. The CG WiFi worked OK and we had a repeater next to our site. You could upgrade to faster CG internet for a fee, but we did not use this service. The CG has ice, firewood, and propane for sale. There was a small fenced dog park next to the shower, laundry and exercise facility in the Oasis section. Near the entrance there was a larger fenced dog park(about an acre) with a smaller fenced area within the dog park. St. Augustine’s historic, shopping, and restaurant area is stupid busy Friday- Sunday. Parking is limited in general and tougher for a dually. Best time to visit is during the week.

Thanksgiving in Florida

We spent Thanksgiving week at the Compass Resort in St Augustine. It is now a Sun Resort having been purchased from previous owners. You can see where the old park stops and the new sites have been added. They now have a pool and work out room. The sites were large and easy to access. Grounds are well maintained. You are close to stores and attractions. The resort has a deal with Old Town Trolley where they will pick you up from the office and take you into historic town. One thing they don't tell you is to keep your ticket stub for a cheaper rate if you go back within 5 days. You buy your first ticket from the office. We would go back.

Great campground, easily accessible, great staff, nice sites, quiet

The arrival and check-in process was easy and well organized. We arrived and were met by one of the friendly campground office staff. After giving our name we were given a welcome amenity, a park map, and packet of very useful information. From there we were escorted to our campsite by one of their friendly staff who led in a golf cart. Once at the campsite the staff member was happy to assist with getting parked as needed. He then spent a couple of minutes going over amenities and general housekeeping. We did like the fact that garbage was picked up from the end of your site. You just leave the trash bag out anytime and the park staff pick it up during one of their normal rounds around the park.

The whole park including all the sites were very well maintained. There was a variety of options to choose from when we booked this campsite including pull-through, back-in, gravel, or brick paver sites. While out walking around we even noticed they had several very nice sized buddy camping sites. These sites are great if you are traveling with friends or family that have their own unit, but would like to have a common site space. We had opted for one of their upgraded sites for this trip which meant the entire site was level brick pavers with grassy areas on either side.

We do not use the facilities that much at campgrounds, but we did take some time and walk around and check out the restrooms and bathing areas. They were clean, well maintained, and appeared to have everything one would need. The laundry facility was clean and had decent looking washers and dryers. We did notice outside of the laundry facility it appeared they had re-purposed some older washers and dryers and created a pet washing station. This is such a great idea and would make it easy to do laundry for your pets that you may not want to do in regular machines.

Just like check-in, check-out was a breeze. We were a bit late getting checked-out and as a courtesy I called the main office to let them know. They were great about extending us an hour with no penalty, but if we went more than an hour there would be around a$20 late check-out fee.

All in all, the park was great! We will definitely be returning in the future.

Very nice to park and accommodating staff!

The staff at this park were very friendly and helpful! Our site was clean and spaced nicely from other rv campers. Restroom/shower facilities were clean. We got a first visit special buy one night get second night free! Nice pool, ping pong table and corn home games. If you really want to get around and don’t have a toad, you can buy a trolley ticket at the park ($24.00 for the day). They have a free shuttle that will take u to first trolley stop. It was a little hard to catch a trolley back due to every other row being blocked to keep social distancing because of the virus but that won’t always be the case. Nice to do at least once. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The office sells firewood. We will definitely visit again!
