Drive-By RV Depot

If you are looking for an EZ on/off RV parking lot that is low on the totem pole from a pricing standpoint, doesn't offer any amenities and is located adjacent to a thriving city and a stone's throw to the Atlantic Ocean, then this RV parking lot may just be right for you.  That said, it is RIGHT OFF US1, which is a major highway (6 lanes to be precise), so while convenient, it will come with harbingers of noise and light pollution.  There's about 40 drive-thru RV spots on the grounds, along with about 5-6 apartment/condos and upon visiting, there were definitely a handful of available spots, although I'll warn you that there appears to be a number of RV's that have been parked there for quite some time.  For those looking for a camping respite, I wouldn't recommend this concrete lot.  That said, if you're in a fix, this is convenient and cheap.  Insider's tip?  Head south on US1 about a mile and you'll come to Munch, which is St. Augustine's Food Truck haven - I recommend Arepas, Howling Fried Chicken and Cheesy Bacon Everything.  While you might not be able to sleep well at night at St. Augustine RV Park, at least you can eat well?!

Happy Camping!

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best RV parks in St. Augustine, FL for long-term stays?

St. Augustine RV Park isn't typically recommended for long-term stays due to its limited amenities and basic facilities. For extended stays in the St. Augustine area, parks with more comprehensive facilities like Compass RV Park or Anastasia State Park offer better value with full hookups and community amenities. Look for parks with monthly rate options, laundry facilities, stable WiFi, and community spaces. The ideal long-term RV parks in St. Augustine combine reasonable monthly rates with proper infrastructure, social activities, and proximity to shopping and services. Contact parks directly about their extended stay policies and potential seasonal rate changes.

Are there any RV parks located on or near the beach in St. Augustine?

St. Augustine RV Park is not beach-adjacent, being primarily an interstate-accessible location. For beachfront RV camping in St. Augustine, consider Anastasia State Park which offers sites within walking distance to the Atlantic. North Beach Camp Resort provides oceanfront accommodations between the Atlantic Ocean and North River. St. Augustine Beach KOA is another option with relatively close beach access. While St. Augustine RV Park itself doesn't offer beach proximity, it's only a short drive to several beach access points, making it a budget-friendly base camp for beach excursions.

How do Compass RV Park and other St. Augustine RV resorts compare in reviews?

St. Augustine RV Park is typically considered a more basic option compared to Compass RV Park and other resorts in the area. It offers convenient interstate access and proximity to downtown St. Augustine, positioning it as a functional base camp rather than a luxury resort experience. The park is known for its no-frills approach and lower price point than other area options. Compass RV Park, in contrast, generally receives higher ratings for its amenities and overall experience. Sun Outdoors St. Augustine (formerly Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort) offers different advantages with its coastal location. Each park serves different needs based on price sensitivity, desired amenities, and location preferences.

Where can I find RV parking in downtown St. Augustine or nearby attractions?

Downtown St. Augustine has limited RV parking options due to narrow streets and historic district restrictions. St. Augustine RV Park, while not downtown, offers a convenient base with easier access to attractions than driving an RV into the city center. For visiting downtown, consider staying at the park and using rideshare services, the Old Town Trolley, or public transportation. Some attractions like the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Alligator Farm have larger parking lots that may accommodate RVs. The Visitor Information Center on West Castillo Drive sometimes permits temporary RV parking. Always check size restrictions and parking regulations before attempting to park an RV near downtown attractions.

What amenities can I expect at RV resorts in the St. Augustine area?

St. Augustine RV Park offers basic amenities and serves primarily as a convenient overnight stop. Most established RV resorts in the St. Augustine area provide full hookups (water, electric, sewer), WiFi, shower facilities, and laundry rooms. Higher-end resorts typically feature swimming pools, fitness centers, dog parks, and organized activities. Some parks offer cable TV connections, propane service, and camp stores. Premium resorts may include extras like hot tubs, tennis courts, planned social events, and concierge services for local attractions. Amenities vary significantly between parks, so checking specific offerings before booking is essential for finding the right fit for your needs.
