Description

The Citrus Tract Primitive Camp Zone D is located on the Citrus Tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest, approximately 5 miles southwest of Inverness, FL. This campground is a hike in and hike out site only. There is no water and there are no amenities, although some areas may have a fire ring and/or picnic table. The camp zone is delineated by yellow colored bands on the trees and is approximately 4 to 8 miles from the parking area. Recreational activities featured here are: hiking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, star gazing, wildflower viewing and nature study.

Some areas may have a fire ring and/or picnic table or bench
Please contact WSF Dispatch at 352-797-4100 before you begin each day of your outing to verify if prescribed burning will be taking place that day.
This is a Wildlife Management Area. It is recommended that visitors wear 500 square inches of Blaze Orange while hiking in the area during hunting seasons.
Per Florida Administrative Code, 5I-4006(4)(k), Chainsaw use in camping facilities is prohibited. Operation/use of chainsaws in other areas of the forest requires a Fuel Wood Permit

**For Trailhead at Mutual Mine:** **Via I-75:** Take Exit 329 - SR 44 (Gulf-Atlantic Highway) for Wildwood, FL. Head west on SR 44 towards Inverness. At the intersection with US 41, head west to the traffic light at C-581 (Pleasant Grove Road) and Applebees. Go south on C-581 (Pleasant Grove Road) approximately 6 miles to FR (Trail) 16. Turn right (west) and the entrance to the campground will be on your left. Parking is at the trailhead sign outside the Mutual Mine Campground gate. **Via Suncoast Parkway:** Take the Suncoast Parkway (TR-589) north to US Hwy 98. **For Trailhead at Tillis Hill:** **Via I-75:** Take Exit 329 - SR 44 (Gulf-Atlantic Highway) for Wildwood, FL. Head west on SR 44 towards Inverness. At the intersection with US 41, continue west to the traffic light at CR-581 (Pleasant Grove Road) and Applebees. Go south on CR-581 (Pleasant Grove Road) approximately 10 miles to C-480 (Stage Coach Trail). Turn right (west) on C-480 (Stage Coach Trail) and continue to FR ( Trail)13, turn right (north). Contintue approximately 1.5 miles to the fork road and take the right fork up the hill to Tillis Hill Recreation Area and Campground. Parking is in the Day Use Area. **Via Suncoast Parkway:** Take the Suncoast Parkway (TR-589) north to US Hwy 98. Bear right to US Hwy 98 (southeast) and continue approximately 3.5 miles to C-491 (Lecanto Hwy). Turn left (north) on C-491 and continue C-480 (Stage Coach Trail) and turn right (east). Continue east on C-480 (Stage Coach Trail) to FR (Trail) 13. Turn left and continue to the fork in the road and stay To the right. Continue up hill to Tillis Hill Recreation Area and Campground. Parking is in the Day Use Area.
