About
State Park
Camping opportunities abound at Lathrop. Lathrop’s two campgrounds have 103 sites that can accommodate motor homes, trailers and tents, and offer either a basic or improved camping experience. Improved Sites provide 20/30/50 amp electricity at the site, but do not provide water or sewer hookups. Piñon Campground is ideal for large camping units. Clean, nice campground
You need to pay for site, $9 entrance fee, and showers (50 cents for 4 minutes, etc.).
Lake for fishing, jetskiing, swimming. Hogback Trail and other trails. Golf course for campers (prob for fee; looked quite nice!).
The pit toilet in Yucca Campground is basically clean and without odor, but they must have chosen the cheapest and lowest ones available. See pic.
The bathrooms in Pinon were flush. This is where showers were located as well.
Stayed in Yucca. My site was private on three sides but one side was open to rest of sites. Easily fixed if you set up tent there. Site 3 has nice elevation.
Nice Stop
Basic camping was good. Clean site. The electric sites fill up quickly. Staff was nice and helpful at station. Pit toilet was clean. Winds were forceful and crazy at night. Maybe a storm was coming. I would stay here again. (Nice towns close by.)
Too much $$ for too little
Colorado State Parks are expensive. We had a VERY basic site with communal water & vault toilets for $28 + $9 day fee. Nice picnic tables & fire rings though. Way too close to the highway — noisy! Plus helicopter overhead made sleep difficult.
