Accessible via washboard road, Yamcolo Reservoir Dispersed Camping provides designated sites for $10-20 per night within Routt National Forest. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate, though campers must bring their own water and pack out trash. A few vault toilets sit within a short drive of the camping area.
The Forest Service operates this first-come, first-served campground with resident hosts during summer months who can suggest local hiking trails. The rough road conditions make the drive from town longer than the actual distance suggests. Sites fill on a first-come basis with no reservation system, and pets are not permitted at this forested location near the reservoir.
