Tucked into forested terrain within Pike National Forest, Handcart Campground sits near Jefferson, Colorado, with access along a road that crosses a small stream and requires four-wheel drive beyond the main campground area. Sites are labeled and dispersed across the surrounding area. No toilets or water are available on-site, but nearby campgrounds including Hall Valley Campground and Sawmill Gulch have vault toilets and pump water within walking distance. Bring trash bags, as previous campers have left waste in the stream.
Description
Off Park County Route 60, from US Hwy 285, the Handcart campground is surrounded by lodgepole pine trees. The campground has 10 campsites for TENT CAMPING ONLY.
During peak season, this campground is a full-service campground. Pre-season and extended season have reduced service such as water, trash, or a host may not be available.
Fee Info
$22.00 fee per site for overnight. Two (2) vehicles per site are included in the camping fee. $6.00 for a third vehicle.
$7.00 day use fee if not camping overnight.
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order.

From Jefferson, CO, take US Rt. 285 east 8.5 miles to County Rt. 60 sign. Turn left onto Rt. 60 (dirt) and go 4.9 miles to campground on left.
