Geneva Park Campground

Hikers preparing for Mount Bierstadt and other fourteeners use Geneva Park Campground as a staging area in Pike National Forest. The campground sits at elevation along Guanella Pass, providing direct access to alpine trailheads and high-country routes. Dense pine forest surrounds the sites, with a creek running through the area.

The campground contains several dozen sites spread across open terrain beneath tall pines. Most sites accommodate tents easily, while RVs up to 32 feet can navigate the loop road with careful driving. Gerard E. found site 21 "flat" and suitable for car camping before an early morning hike. Fire rings and picnic tables equip each site, though some reviewers note certain sites have uneven terrain where tables and fire rings appear to be sliding downhill.

The internal road system requires attention, particularly for trailers. Several campers mention rough, eroded sections with large divots that demand slow speeds. "The dirt loop road through the site is rather eroded in spots with large divots that require very slow going with a trailer," explains Tyler P.. AWD vehicles handle the conditions better than standard cars, especially when accessing dispersed sites down the road.

Pit toilets serve the campground, though water availability varies by season. Recent visitors report no functioning potable water access, so bringing your own supply or water filtration is essential. The nearby creek provides a water source for those with purification methods. Reservations are available through the standard Forest Service system, and sites fill quickly during summer months. For additional camping options in the region, campers can explore places to camp around Grant or other campgrounds near Pike National Forest.

Guests frequently mentioned the large, private sites surrounded by tall pines near Guanella Pass hiking trails. Basic facilities include pit toilets and fire rings, though drinking water availability varies. Helpful camp hosts and peaceful creek sounds enhance the experience.

Chilly Night

August 30, 2024.

Site 21, we stayed one night with friends prior to getting up in the morning to hike up Mount Bierstadt. We slept in the car and opted not use the tent. Site was flat, used a few rocks to block the wind to help heat up some dinner on the stove.

No electric, Shitters were pit toilets.

Nice Quiet Spot to Camp

Overall a really nice, accessible spot to camp with plenty of trees, some good views and a creek. Each site had fire rings and a picnic table. Area was clean even without host currently present. The only issue is that it's advertised as having drinking water but there is currently no functioning potable water access nearby. Other than that, toddlers and dogs enjoyed it all!

Nice camping near Guanella Pass

We took our 19” trailer here for Father’s Day weekend. Quite a few camp sites. A lot of smaller spots best for tents. Lots of trees! Which is very nice. Bring a hammock. The one vault toilet was better than most. There appeared to be fire rings at every site.

Fun Campground

This campsite is nestled in a wooded area very close to beautiful vistas and trailheads. Campsites were reasonably well spread out with fire rings. This site had plenty of good level ground for a small trailer to back in. With a trailer in place, there were not many remaining good spots for a tent. Part of this site seems to be sliding down the hill (fire ring and table), but it's all still functional.

The dirt loop road through the site is rather eroded in spots with large divots that require very slow going with a trailer. But it's fine for even small city vehicles to pass through.

There is a picturesque meadow right next to this campsite which leads to a horse trail that takes you to some great views of the nearby alpine peaks with a short, easy walk.

No hookups or potable water. The host did have firewood for sale, but not sure you can always count on that.

Forested Apline Campground

The camp ground is great depending on your site. Some may be very difficult to use if you have a trailer or even a roof tent due to the driveways being washed out or very uneven. Otherwise it was nice and quiet and the camp host was great.

Geneva Park Campground

Happened upon this camp area after a failed attempt at another site. The views are incredible and there are tons of number sites. Most of the sites are spread out offering ample amounts of privacy. The road in was decent even after heavy rainfall. The only downside was an insane amount of biting flies so be prepared. Loved this place will definitely be back!

Guanella Pass Pines!

Wow wow wow. The pine trees in this campground are unreal. You are truly surrounded by those tall swaying Colorado beauties when you stay here. They provide all the shade you could need which means the campground stays cool in the day which is nice.

There is a nice little stream to lull you to sleep if the swaying sounds of the wind in the pines doesn’t do it for you.

This campground is deceptively large with at least a couple dozen sites but I feel they are well spaced.

Awesome for tent campers- not recommended for bigger trailers. Pop ups would be fine but roads can be rough and the campground has some tight turns.

Hiking is beyond abundant with all of Guanella Pass at your fingertips!

Very Busy

We camped down the road at the dispersed sites. Sites are numbered but there are a few fire pits not on numbered sites which is what we ended up with. The road gets rough and an AWD with some clearance is necessary once you get down the road a little ways. Despite how busy it was we landed a site that felt secluded and was only a short walk to the shelf lake th. The dispersed area does not have toilets or water but most sites are close to the creek so either bring water or a filter.

Great Location

Ended up staying here due to another campground not working out, arrived in complete darkness and managed to snag one of two remaining sites. This place definitely fills up in the summer, however they do accept reservations. There are pit toilets and drinking water available - it’s a pretty standard USFS campground. I wish I would have had more time to spend exploring the area, it was really stunning!

How do I find a map of Geneva Park Campground?

Maps of Geneva Park Campground can be found through several sources. The USDA Forest Service website is the primary official resource for campground maps and site layouts.
