Ideal Beach-Side Campground

This campground was exceptionally well-maintained, and easily gets a 5 star review because of its combo of reservable and first come, first serve sites, making it more accessible for last minute plans, or for those of us who don't book 6 months in advance.

Verizon coverage is definitely spotty here, as it was for much of the areas near to this campground.

There are some first come, first serve sites with ocean views! Lots of trees that make it feel more remote than it is. Ocean noise somewhat blocks road noise. Blackberries all around!

Stunning Mountain Camping

This is in my top 5 most beautiful places I've ever camped. The roads leading up to it are definitely most manageable in a vehicle with 4x4 or good clearance and there are some very exposed, narrow sections to be wary of depending on the route you choose. There are a handful of marked sites up at Paradise Divide (as all dispersed camping is now regulated and marked in Crested Butte area). If you are arriving on a weekday you shouldn't have too much trouble nabbing a site, but weekends in the summer may not be easy to get a spot. These sites are located very close to some of the best mountain biking trails, the 401 and 404, as well as a wealth of high mountain hiking.

Easy access from I-15, but quiet and pleasant

This campground was an amazing find after 10+ hours of driving. Sometimes adding another hour or more navigating back roads to find camping is just not in the cards. The campground only had one other visitor when we visited so it was very quiet, and it is also tucked away in the trees so there is minimal road noise. This spot is actually free until memorial day (the camp host was actually there doing maintenance and said that it only charges a fee memorial - labor day). Although be warned, only one bathroom was open and we had to go on a hunt to find it. Sites all seemed spacious and lots of trees!

Busy, close to Boulder

Only knocking this site a star for busyness and difficulty parking. However, proximity to Boulder is a huge plus if you are looking for a quick and easy get away. Be warned that though it is relatively close to town, weekends and probably in the peak of summer season, parking may be completely full. This is also a huge spot for recreation like climbing and fishing, so almost everyone we saw were there just for the afternoon and we had the dispersed camping areas almost all to ourself. There are plenty of flat spots to set up, close to the parking area of a bit of a trek through the woods. Views of the canyon are spectacular.

Close to great biking!

If you're looking for a well-kept paid campground outside of Moab, this is the place. There are trails through the campground and many, many options for biking near by. Fairly close to Dead Horse State Park as well! Likely very hot in the summer months, not a lot of shade up there.

Great access to mountain biking and the Colorado Trail!

Welcoming campground, spur trails connecting it straight to the Colorado Trail and other connections in the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area. Nearby creek down the dirt road to cool off after a ride or hike. I greatly enjoyed my two night stay here and the phenomenal access to trails! Definitely can be a busy spot!
