Weir and Johnson

Dense forest cover and eight miles of washboard road create a remote setting at this 12-site campground within Grand Mesa National Forest. The Forest Service facility operates seasonally from May through September, with vault toilets and trash service but no potable water or firewood available on-site.

Campers find a mix of drive-in and walk-in sites, though many picnic tables have settled low into the ground over time. The heavily shaded environment limits solar power effectiveness, while nearby lakes provide water access despite seasonal drawdowns. Mosquitoes are common during peak season. For different terrain and easier access, Big Creek sits three miles west with similar amenities.

Small primitive CG

Ok but too shady for my solar and Staink needs, no potable water and no views. Lakes are small and being drawn down. $16/$8 senior, only 12 sites, self pay. some are walk in sites suitable only for tenters. One nice vault toilet, some garbage containers. No cell signal. Eight 8 miles of washboard road to access.

Decent

Bathrooms clean and a few decent campsites. No wood or water is available. Lots of fun hiking in close proximity. The campground could use some love as the tables have sunk pretty low into the ground.

No reservations, first come first serve. Boat ramp, Picnic tables, Toilets(Vault), Parking. The mosquitoes are plentiful; bring repellent.
