Himes Peak Campground sits within White River National Forest roughly five miles from the Trappers Lake complex, accessed by drive-in road and open from May through November. The campground has 11 first-come, first-served sites, with about half accommodating RVs or trailers up to 25 feet. Bear boxes are at each site, a campground host is typically on-site, and firewood is available for purchase. Campers should note the water system was reported non-functional as of summer 2024, so arriving with a full supply is essential. No cell signal on T-Mobile has been reported here. A trail leads down to the river for fishing. Shepherds Rim Campground, about 2.8 miles southeast, is a nearby alternative worth considering, and there are additional campgrounds around White River National Forest for those weighing other options in the area.
Description
