Reservations are recommended at Fiddler's Campground, where sites book out months in advance and walk-in availability during midweek is the exception rather than the rule. Run by the Oasis at Death Valley Resort, the campground sits adjacent to the resort property, giving campers access to a natural spring-fed pool, flush toilets by the golf course, and shower facilities reached by a roughly 10-minute walk across the resort grounds. Rates run up to $24 per night. The Furnace Creek Campground — Death Valley National Park sits just 0.2 miles north, and the National Park Visitor's Center is within easy walking distance.
The campground itself is a gravel lot with around 28 mostly level back-in sites. No frills. Sites are stacked close together, which becomes more noticeable when larger rigs fill in, and noise from generators, early-morning vehicle maintenance, and nearby construction has been flagged by multiple reviewers. A row of trees along the south side provides some shade, but there is little other screening between sites. Cell service is spotty throughout the area, and WiFi from the resort only reaches reliably near the main office and restaurants, not the campground itself.
As a base for exploring Death Valley National Park, the location has real practical value. Golden Canyon, Zabriskie Point, the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, and Badwater Basin are all accessible from here, and the Death Valley Backcountry Roadside Camping — Death Valley National Park begins just to the north. Shari G. describes it as "a very utilitarian campground" with "a good central location." Campers who prioritize pool access, a hot shower, and a reliable overnight stop between park days will get the most out of what this site provides.
