Brightman Flat sits along Highway 108 on Sonora Pass, accessed via two separate entrances off the road. The campground runs alongside a quick-moving river on all-dirt ground, with 33 first-come, first-served sites, each equipped with a table and fire ring. Vault toilets are on-site. Note that pets are not permitted. Among the campgrounds around Stanislaus National Forest, this one draws fewer visitors than some nearby alternatives, though it is not secluded. Boulder Flat Campground lies less than a mile to the west. No reservation is needed, so arriving early on weekends improves your chances of securing a site.
