Description

Welcome to Prairie Dog RV And Camping! Kick back, detach, and savor your surroundings of pristine desert sunsets, moonlit sands and breathtaking mountainous views. The stars in the night sky being worth the price of admission!

Our campground offers a more remote and private off-grid camping experience catering to all RV "Boondockers" and general camp goers alike. Conveniently located only 5-8 minutes driving to 29 Palms City Center and 10-12 mins to Joshua Tree National Park East Entrance.

THANKS FOR READING OUR CAMPSITE RULES:

-QUIET HOURS commence from 10pm-7am. We kindly ask Guests NOT to create any loud noise or play any loud music during their stay. We would like to keep the campsite a very peaceful and relaxing experience.

-DO NOT start any real fires in the Fire Pit or anywhere else on site including the Charcoal Grill. Due to the very fierce and strong sudden gusts of winds in the region, we ask that Guests refrain from making any kind of wood burning campfires. This has been a big liability for Airbnb Hosts in the surrounding 29 Palms/Joshua Tree area. As a safer alternative, we offer a Propane FirePit(propane included) and hope that this still fulfills your camping experience.

-AVOID DRIVING OFF OF DESIGNATED DIRT PATHS, or else you run a very good risk of getting stuck!

-Please keep ALL PETS on a leash AT ALL TIMES. There are Coyotes and other wildlife in this area and keeping any pets on the loose can create a serious liability.

-Both the Fire Pit and Charcoal Grill have plastic covers that you remove when using. Please be sure to re-cover them again before check-out.

-The Hammock has two yellow rope ties tied around it when in non-use. We appreciate that you re-tie them back on after using.

-Please collect any additional litter that was not already picked up and thrown out in our trash bin before checking out.

-Please stay within close proximity to the camping ground and do not to stray too close to our neighbor’s adjacent properties out of respect for quiet and privacy. We want to respect our community and demonstrate that our campground can be a professional operation.

-GIVEN ANY KIND OF INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS, WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REFUNDS GIVEN BACK TO GUESTS DUE TO BAD WEATHER. WE ASK THAT YOU PLAN ACCORDINGLY****

-Daytime temps in the Summer climb over the 110 degree mark. Bring plenty of Water!!! It is the desert obviously, and constant hydration is a must!

In the winter it can be quite cold at night. Sometimes freezing for a week at a time. Winter Storms, Summer Monsoons and High Winds are also something to be aware of when planning to camp in the High Desert.

Flash flooding can also get you stranded. Please use The National Weather Service to gauge your camping weather.

Directions

We advise Guests to access the campground by only turning off of Amboy Rd(coming either East or West) onto Prairie Dog Ave. Head south on the dirt road and you will see our campground directional signs roughly a half mile and a half in on Prairie Dog. Please do not take any GPS direction turning off of Highway 62/Twentynine Palms Highway going North*** From our campground location, enjoy the convenience of close access(5 mins) to everything Twentynine Palms City Center has to offer(restaurants, shops, cafes, etc) and the East Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park on Utah Trail Rd. WE STRONGLY advise NOT to do any kind of off-roading exploration in the neighborhood or else you do run a very good risk of getting stuck in the sand!! Please stay on all dirt road paths coming to and leaving the campground! Just a little heads up...there is one block of dirt road right before reaching the entrance to my property that is just a little bumpy, but totally fine for all vehicles to handle. Once on the property, feel free to use the circular driveway and Parking/RV Slip however way you wish-depending on how many vehicles are in your party. We are happy to Host all Class A RV vehicles and trailers up to 45' ft in length.

Panoramic Desert Mountain Views And An Epic Star Lit Night Sky!

We had such a great time at Prairie Dog RV& Camping! We showed up just after dusk(we used(Hidden by Airbnb) Maps and it took us to the site without problems) and as we pulled in, the entire site was all lit up with hundreds of small lights spread out throughout the camp site- super cool and welcoming touch. Plenty of ground to pitch your tent on soft sand. The site was surprisingly well equipped with cooking utensils(and a food prep table!) right next to a campsite-style grill. Very cool. We used the propane fire pit for a bit and it does add some ambiance for sure. Nearest"neighbor" must be 1/2 mile away the way the crow flies, so you're not bothered by any noise or light pollution, which made the viewing of the milky way pretty sweet. Last but not least(in my book), this must have been the cleanest(and fully equipped) port-a-potty I've seen. Super clean, and even water in the tank so you can wash your hands(use the foot pump). There is a small first aid kit in there, as well as a fire extinguisher as well. Overall very thoughtful. We'll definitely camp there again if we are in the area! Robert was super easy to communicate with via text- oh and yes, there is still cell reception there. Definitely a great desert experience!
