Quiet and Pristine

🌲🐸 If you’re reading this review, do your part to keep this lake pristine and quiet.

Toad Lake is a pristine mountain lake accessible only via a long, rough, and rocky single lane dirt road (Toad Lake Road 40N64). Take this road only is you have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle with suitable clearance and…

Sites are spread out, very clean in a nice forest. Chipmunks are cute and respectful. Very beautiful campground

Chill spot. Bring a DD if you want to drink on the water.

Went with a big group, nine. Had plenty of space for five tents and several nicely placed trees for hammocking. The sight has two full size picnic tables and a fresh water spout. Solid fire pit. Bear proof cabinet for dry storage. It was not as close to the lake as we would have liked, we had…

Beautiful views of lake, beware of tweakers

The views of the lake were amazing coming down the dirt road to the campground. We came here expecting to see some clear waters and enjoy a quiet camp. Unfortunately this was not the case, the water was brown (which we didn’t mind) this didn’t stop us from fishing too.

But during our stay we got…

Trinity lake KOA

Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. Campers were respectful of quiet hours and staff was mostly courteous. They charge for everything including an early check-in fee when we had to move sites due to reservation conflicts. Lots of children and some camp sites are on top of each other. The…

Tannery Gulch

Camped here during the week in a RTT. About 15% capacity mid week. The lake level is very low. Quite a walk down to the water from the camp sites. $24 per night +$10 for extra vehicles. No firewood for sale at the campground so plan ahead. Decent bathrooms. No complaints! Beautiful views.

Trinity Lake

Check in was a challenge, staff was grumpy, even with a reservation. They have a later check in (3pm) but will allow early check in for $25 (nickel & dime?!?). There was no cell service. Correction to Dyrt description, wireless is only available at the KOA store.

Old School Cabin in the woods

Super cool spot right by the lake , they have it all here even a pool ! The jungle gym for the kids was sweet and a cool tree house … the kids loved it but it was a lil pricey .

Quiet camp

We spent one night a Cattle Camp and enjoyed the stopover. The campground was empty compared to Fowler’s just down the road. Lots of space between sites, plenty of shade, and rather level. You can access the McCloud River trail from Camp which gave us the chance to stretch our legs and wear out…

Gorgeous

This was a great campground, managed by PG&E. It's pretty small, which made it much more quiet than other campgrounds. Our site was right on the river, so we had the peaceful sounds of rushing water to hear. The site (3) was also pretty decent size, and in my opinion the best site.

The best…

Peace and quiet

Hidden out of the way little gem. The campground has only eight sites. The restrooms are clean and showers are available at a neighboring campground. Right now the lake is so low you really can’t get to it. But it’s great just to hang out in peace and quiet. Be sure to download directions, hiking…

Clean bathrooms

The spot I was in was small and nestled in a grove of aspen trees. The bear locker was well maintained and the fire ring was double walled. There were flush toilets with working lights and the tent pad was level.

Its a short drive to some great hikes, but the campground itself was too busy and…
