Best Glamping near Shasta-Trinity National Forest, CA

Drive in and group camp spots with some sites right off the lake (though some spots had rocky beaches). Pretty views of the lake! Bathrooms, trash, and yurts available.

We stayed 2 nights in late October and were the only campers beside the host. There are 2 pull thru sites (10 & 12), we stayed in 10 in our 40' coach with tow. Flush toilets in 2 different buildings, no soap or hot water at the sinks, however. All sites have a nice picnic table and fire pit. Lots of water spigots throughout the campground but they don't have threads to allow a hose to hookup. There are also a few decent size garbage bins that are bear proof. Maybe it's the time of the year or lack of campers but the host wasn't ever seen. Lots of sites had litter here & there and the fire pits contained the previous camper's trash. Garbage bins were nearly full. The trees over the main road need trimming, lots of branches scratching the motorhome roof unnecessarily. Lake Shasta was really low so we didn't attempt to scramble down to the water. $25/night without discounts for a basic site. Yurts are more. 50% discount for golden or access National pass.

Large pull-thru sites with vegetation in between.  Casino nearby has multiple restaurants and entertainment, including golf.  Cheap gas for California.  Little bit of a hike to clean restrooms.  Quiet.  Convenient location for traveling down I-5.

Refreshing staff, pull thru’s, and quiet, even though the freeway isn’t too far away. Little store with stuff. At the time it was fire season & Covid, so bathrooms were closed. Good for overnight stop while traveling south.

Excellent Verizon signal. Very clean. The only negative was it appeared to be many long term residents. Also the water park next to the campground was closed

Great campsite. Nicely laid out, lovely landscaping, great amenities (including a small gym with free weights), super clean and functional bathrooms. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

We loved ending our weeklong road trip here! This hidden gem was a lucky find! The grounds were beautiful, and included a small waterfall & koi pond, and a play structure for the littles.

The property managers were extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful. The amenities were exceptionally clean, and the sites themselves were tidy with all the necessary hookups. Free WiFi provided, and laundry room on site as well.

We honestly didn’t want to leave.

Mid-July, 114 degrees and their pool is closed!!! At $90+ per night expect better. Staying elsewhere next time in Redding.

My family and I were recently evacuated from my home due to a wildfire. We are fortunate enough to have an RV and were able to get to an evacuation area. After staying a few days in the evacuation zone, we needed to refill our water and empty our tanks so I visited Boulder Creek.

I offered to pay for some water and for use of their dump station. I was immediately met with the following statement by their front desk employee: “It’s 20 bucks to dump and I don’t do water fills.” 

I’ve met some of the kindest and most gracious people during this incident, but I was disgusted as I walked out and noticed the freshly watered little planters full of flowers and the lack of humanity or even an attempt at kindness shown by Boulder Creek’s employees. 

I highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Redding to find somewhere else.

Great rv park! Patti is super accommodating and helpful. It’s nice for a stop over or a couple of weeks while exploring the Shasta area.

We loved our stay. We felt safe and it’s probably one of the most cleanest campground and facilities I’ve ever been to. Clean bathrooms, showers, zero trash around. All around a great visit. Perfect spot if you are traveling with a pet. Highly recommend.

Well maintained and clean park. Actually has grass, not all gravel. Sites level. Nice pool and laundry room. One night stay and arrived late so did self check in...no password for bathrooms were given, so asked a neighbor for a password. One of the restrooms was shut down for repairs. Too pricy.

Mountain Gate is a comfortable park to stay.  It is relatively quiet as it is off the Highway.

We would stay here again.  I recommend you check it out.

Beautiful setting, nice sites, friendly staff, and clean bathrooms. Only downside was the highway noise.

This was a great campground, managed by PG&E. It's pretty small, which made it much more quiet than other campgrounds. Our site was right on the river, so we had the peaceful sounds of rushing water to hear. The site (3) was also pretty decent size, and in my opinion the best site.

The best part about this campground is the proximity to Lassen NP! It is about a 15 min drive to the entrance & Manazanita Lake.

The camp host was super nice, and was telling us how he put a lot of work to rehab the campground. He's done a great job!

We stayed here for 4 weeks while traveling for work in Redding, so I think our review is well qualified. We're traveling in a 40ft RV for reference though they do also have tent spaces. 

First off, I'm surprised to be the first one to review this campground on the Dyrt, since it has a lot of informative reviews on Google. We looked at a handful of other campgrounds prior to staying here. Covid and wild fires did have an effect on the other campgrounds that were open, but of those that were,  I think this was one of the best. 

It has all the amenities one could expect from a typical RV park, full hookups, wifi, cable, showers, laundry, etc. There's a cell tower on the way in to the campground. You can expect two to three bars of LTE from both AT&T and Verizon (we use both) . The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can't say enough about their exceptional attitudes. The spaces are all in the woods with mostly shade, though there are some that get more sunlight than others. The RV spaces are large and offer more privacy than most campgrounds. It tended to fill up on the weekends (sometimes completely) but was fairly quiet during weekdays with only a handful of people. Quiet and peaceful during the week. About thirty minutes to downtown Redding. Small gas station within walking distance, and a small grocery store in driving distance. 1.5 miles off the highway. Big rigs welcome. The website shows pictures of all the individual sites, quite helpful.

It was a mostly positive experience, but we'll mention two negatives. The bathrooms  sometimes got pretty dirty on the busy weekends and ran out of supplies at times. Hard to say if the pandemic was causing short staff or not though. The other issue is the bears. Its wasn't an issue of them bothering us, we only physically saw them one time in four weeks. They got into the trash pretty regularly though. It was very evident in the morning when the cans would be knocked over and rummaged through.  It could be easily solved with some bear-proof trash cans. Not really a big deal and it didn't have any effect on our stay. 

We'll definitely be coming back next time we're in the area. Checkout the reviews on Google for more perspective.

Nice place, kid friendly and for the most part very clean. I say that only because it was 4th of July weekend and there was a dirty bunch around us. But even with that the park crew was great and did the best to keep things up as much as they could. They do enforce quiet time which is great and they have a little store/burger spot which is very convenient next to the pool area. Very friendly and helpful staff. They’ll also deliver wood to your camp site.

This place has the tightest spots ever! Feel like a sardine. It’s pretty but would never spend $80 to smash in with other campers!
