Beautiful area

Very nice campground, but cell coverage is nonexistent outside of one small area.

Camping near it all

Great place to stay. You’re tucked away directly in nature but a 5 minute drive will get you to downtown Nevada city. “Downtown” is a small quaint historic area packed with great restaurants for vegans and organic lovers alike.

  • pass the train tracks is a large meadow to take a walk in. camping was 6/10 on the private scale.
  • nice pool to cool off in
  • cute train track runs on the outskirts of the sites. You can pay to take the small quiet train

Family of 4 roof top tent camping

Nice campground - close to river. .5 mile walk to town for shopping/eating. All sites have fire pit and picnic table. Bathrooms clean and private showers. A little pricey for a tent site - 45.00 and 5.00 for the dog but it’s California.

Nice place

Great lake for swimming and water play. Too warm for trout and too small for kayaks/SUPs. But it does make a beautiful backdrop.
The park is rather spread out, so a bicycle/ebike is a plus. And if you mountain bike, there's some decent trails close by to ride. There's also legit fishing lakes…

Easy in and out

This was my first camp out spot ever. I called ahead and made sure they would be okay with me sleeping in my Outback. They said it would be okay as long as I had the gear to sleep outside in a tent as well. The place was quiet and we had no issues. I just suggest getting there early enough so you…

Beautiful, quiet, family-friendly but … mosquitos!

We were so thrilled to find this clean, family-friendly resort with its own (warm!) little lake in the high sierras. To top it off, everyone here appears to be very friendly and generous (loaning our group their inflatables).

But our group’s collective joy was short lived after we were beseeched…

Beautiful setting, Terrible customer service

If I had the option to do a negative star I would! Planned a rafting trip over the weekend for my children and I We arrived late Friday and were unable to upgrade to a cabin as they were all closed, not booked just closed. We set our tents up in the rain and made the best of it. Then late that…

Hidden Gem

Snowflower sits just off I-80, it’s owned by Thousand Trails. With the popularity of RV camping, this campground can get busy in the summer months. It is closed in the winter due to snow. There is a small lake that is good for kayaking and paddle boarding. There are sites with partial hookups…

Awesome lake and a ton of deer

We had such a fun time at this campground. Our site was in Section A on a dry creek bed. Dry in August at least. Each day a family of deer came thru our site and were so tame they ate fruit right out of the kids' hands. So cool! It was over 100 degrees the wknd we were there so we spent practically…

Gorgeous setting, but...

This review is for tent camping, not RVs.

  1. Nearly all of the tent sites are tiny and crowded very closely together with no privacy breaks at all between them. To make it even more claustrophobic, many of the near-river sites are terraced into the hillside so you stand at the bottom and look up…
  • Each picnic table is one tent site. So tiny! I think these are sites 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
  • This is 3 tent sites: 21, 25, 27.
  • One tiny tent site (#20).

Trouble Maker

Campground was clean and well taken care of. It is right in the American River and next to a class 3 rapid called Trouble Maker. It was awesome watching rafters and kayakers go through it.

Very nice location on the river. Will return

This park is located very close to Sutter’s Mill where good was discovered. It also has a white water rafting business on site.

The terrain is steep with mostly smaller sites. Water pressure is excellent. Our site had 30 amp only and I doubt any of them have 50 amp. The power is not good. I…

Great American River Access

We had a great time at this resort. We stayed in spot 33 with a large group and didn’t feel crowded. One concern was the road along the river view spots. It is one way and people were constantly going opposite directions. Plus others were trying to unload or pack up and would block the road with no…

Glad to get out in 2020

We were just happy to get out and camping. It’s definitely a place I’ll put on my list to camp at again, especially when they figure out their electrical issues. From what I could tell when driving around the majority of the sites were level; we had 4 spots and all were easy to back in.

Some…
