Sycamore Ranch RV Park

With full electric and water hookups available, Sycamore Ranch RV Park provides developed camping along Dry Creek near Browns Valley. The county-managed facility underwent significant improvements in recent years, adding paved pads, irrigation systems that maintain green grass year-round, and updated restroom facilities with coded entry for registered guests.

The campground sits beside Dry Creek, which flows with water despite its name and supports diverse wildlife. Campers regularly spot river otters playing in the creek, while bird watchers have documented over 18 species using the Merlin app. Great Blue Herons maintain a rookery across the stream, and ospreys fly overhead. Turtles also inhabit the waterway. Walking trails extend roughly two miles through the property.

Weekend visits bring larger crowds and occasional noise issues, while weekdays offer fewer people and quieter conditions. Julie M. notes the campground is "very clean" with "a helpful host." The facility includes pay showers, a dump station, and WiFi access. A boat launch provides creek access for kayaking, and the adjacent county park offers additional day-use opportunities.

Campers seeking lake-based recreation can explore Collins Lake Recreation Area to the northeast for swimming and fishing alternatives.

Amazing, beautiful, horrible

This sweet little campsite has so much to offer. In the spring everything is so green and the ecosystem is really thriving. Great Blue Herons with a rookery across the stream, osprey flying overhead, birds everywhere, various fish, just so much to soak in but then the weekend comes and our experience completely soured so we packed up with 2 days left on our paid reservation. Inconsiderate campers (a birthday party with a blow-up funhouse with the squeal sound that never ends and kids screaming, cars everywhere) but no camp host to be found to ask what the heck is going on and how long will it continue? Not only this but we were charged twice, shared with the office the two receipts and the lady can’t understand the problem. Oh, my.

One of our favorite campgrounds

We live just up the road (Nevada City) yet we ignored this campground for years thinking it was full of trailer trash. But years ago Yuba County did a great job of cleaning this place up and putting in hookups and paving the campground and adding irrigation systems that keep the grass green all year long.

My favorite thing about this campground is the birds! I use the Merlin app to identify the birds here and so far this place holds my record of around 18 birds not including the more silent ones we saw. There are turtles and otters in the creek to check out as well.

The camp host (Jan The Man) is the best camp host ever!

Weekdays are the best when there are few people but on weekends it does fill up. We did camp one time and some folks were having a karaoke party late into the night (somehow I suspect they will never be back). Usually everyone's respectful and its a great place to be.

Clean, comfortable spot

Very clean campground with a helpful host. Bathrooms/showers for paid guest have a code to get in. The day use area has porta potties. This place is dark at night so really good for star watching.

Charming Waterfront Camping

Shaded grassy sites along the banks of Dry Creek (which was full of water when we visited) just above its confluence with the Yuba River. We were tent camping, but each site had a nice, flat, paved parking pad and hookups. The facilities- including pay-showers - were very clean & in fabulous shape. There is a boat launch, and a pretty county park is adjacent. I took advantage of the water and after getting shuttled up to the bridge kayaked down the Yuba and up dry creek all the way to our campsite!

Nice, small campground

Really pretty campground. We are here in the off season, so there weren't many other campers here. I think in high season it would feel cramped. The trees are amazing and there are about 2 miles of walking trails. The campground is along Dry Creek, which isn't dry but is covered in some sort of green stuff (not algae). We saw a river otter playing in the creek, so there is life in it. The bathrooms are pretty clean and you have to pay for showers (which we didn't use) Portapotties are located in the campground, not sure why, maybe the restrooms are too far away? All in all, a nice stop.
