Within Tahoe National Forest, Jackson Point Boat-In Campground provides water-access camping along Stampede Reservoir. The US Forest Service manages this established site, which requires watercraft to reach since no road access exists. Campers must boat across the reservoir to access the open terrain near the shoreline.
The campground sits close to both the lake and a creek, offering immediate water access for fishing and swimming. East Meadow Campground and Pass Creek Campground provide road-accessible alternatives within a mile for those without boats. This site works best for campers with their own watercraft who want lakeside camping away from vehicle traffic.
Description
Jackson Point Campground is a boat-in only campground located on the east side of Jackson Meadow Reservoir, approximately 1/2 mile southwest of the Pass Creek Boat ramp. Jackson Meadow Reservoir is a gorgeous high elevation lake with good fishing. Part of the Pacific Crest Trail passes along the east side of the reservoir. Snow pack determines when the campground opens. The only water source is from the reservoir - purify before drinking.
