Chico Flat Dispersed Campground

Swimming and hiking draw campers to this free dispersed site along the Kern River outside Kernville, though the river bank can be difficult to access and any water drawn from it requires treatment. The site sits directly alongside the road leading into Sequoia, which means road noise continues well into the evening. Cleanliness has been a reported issue, with broken glass, cans, and cigarette butts left by previous visitors. Bring water, pack out trash, and arrive prepared for an unmanaged site.
