Four small sites along the Kern River make up Old Gold Ledge, a dispersed National Forest campground with no toilet, water, or trash service. Vehicles over 20 feet won't fit, and the sites themselves are tight, though tents have room to spread out. Cell coverage is limited, with AT&T getting minimal bars and T-Mobile showing none. Campers can find places to camp near Johnsondale across the surrounding Sequoia National Forest corridor. River access is direct, with swimming and fishing both reported by recent visitors. Those wanting developed amenities can check Ant Canyon a short distance north.
