Great last minute stop!

the restrooms were so clean! Spots were easy to find, we were close to the water which was so nice, some trash laying about but it was well upkept and there are lots of places to put away trash.

Picnic benches and fire rings at each site

Excellently stay

Went here in Veterans Day weekend and only saw a few other campers come and go. Site 3 is right on the creek and is very peaceful. Campground is right on the road, but there’s not much traffic and the creek drowns out most of the noise. Trash cans and vault toilets. Walk upstream of the creek maybe 50 yards and there’s a small hot spring. $15/night to stay. Worth it. We originally wanted to stay on some free land closer to the Trail of 100 Giants, but cold weather made us reconsider. Also, there’s snow as go up in elevation so dispersed camping would be tough unless you’re familiar with the area.

Great site for a short visit

Nice little campground for some day excursions into the park, but nothing accessible on foot easily. Local volunteers keep the place maintained and there's a lovely small river/creek running along the backside of the camp grounds.

Some sites have an ant problem (avoid site 6) sites 1, 2, and 3 are lovely and right against the river.

The drive is wild at night…

But site 3 will steal your heart forever. It’s like having your own personal creek in the middle of nowhere! Simply serene and just what we needed!! We woke in the morning to what wr think we’re hyenas (lmao) crazy. Loved it here, but it was soooooo hot!!! Also, no cell service, or fires allowed at all. Propane stoves are ok but you need a permit. Just a heads up!

Great place to get away

We found this place during in our way to Johnsondale and glad we did. First of all the campsites are distant and all have great river views. This place is great for fishing trout. At this time the fish are small but in a couple more months they should be ready to fish. The best campsite would be the 2nd to the right. It’s spacious and right in front of the river. You do have to pay $15 per night and day and $7 per extra vehicle. Not bad at all. Also the sheriff stops by often so do expect some company and also lots of people stop by to swim so do expect a lot of people going through your campsite. But it is a nice place to visit if you just want to have a picnic. There is a market close by Incase you forgot something, when you go back on the road make a right and at the intersection make another fight and ir should take you to the market.

Nice spot

Neat little campground next to a flowing stream. Good for a nice picnic. No one was there when we went so it was peaceful. People had left a decent amount of trash.

Small foothills campground next to a creek that runs year round.

This small roadside campground is a lovely spot, tucked between a hillside and Deer Creek running year round right at the edge of the campground. We’ve visited the site three times in total, having camped twice (late April & late October). Year round camping is possible, provided you are ready for possible precipitation and dampness. Be prepared with cash to pay your daily fees, as there is just a self check-in station. Nice spot that we enjoyed and will visit again. 😎
