Sierra National Forest Forks Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing and swimming draw most visitors to Forks Campground, which sits directly on Bass Lake within Sierra National Forest and puts water access within walking distance of most sites. Boat rentals are available nearby, and a small store and tackle shop is less than a five-minute drive away, making it a practical base for anglers who want to spend full days on the water. The campground operates from mid-May through mid-September, accommodates RVs up to 40 feet, and allows pets. Reservations are available, and walk-in sites have been reported as open during shoulder season.

Site quality varies noticeably by location. Sites on the hill have open sightlines toward the lake, while lower sites sit closer to the road and pick up traffic noise, including from a metal plate that cars drive over. Several reviewers note that sites are close together, which may matter to campers expecting more separation. Cell coverage is limited; Verizon showed only occasional bars in one recent visit, and Starlink was recommended for anyone needing reliable connectivity.

Restrooms are distributed throughout the campground and include sinks and flush toilets. Tyna B. notes the "bathrooms have sinks and flush toilets too," and multiple reviewers confirm they were consistently clean. Potable water is available on-site. Camp hosts have been described as friendly and attentive across several seasons. Mosquitoes can be a factor, particularly in spring and early summer, so bug spray is worth packing. Forks works best for campers who prioritize lake access over site seclusion, and who are comfortable with some road noise in exchange for campgrounds near Bass Lake at a convenient, well-maintained location.

Campers regularly cited clean facilities, friendly hosts, and beautiful lake access as major strengths. Road noise and tight site spacing were common concerns, though the convenient location near Bass Lake and Yosemite access made it worthwhile for most visitors.

Great Spot!

This is a great tent or boon docking spot that is close to a number of good beaches at bass lake. The campsite hosts are very friendly and the restrooms were always clean.

We were in spot 29 which had great shade but backed up to a road that resulted in some noise occasionally.

There was a number of rest rooms spread throughout with drinking/potable water. Will note that Verizon cell service was almost none existent despite showing 1 or 2 bars occasionally. Starlink is recommend if need internet or other services.

Would recommend staying here.

Great views

The Forks Campground is nice because it’s walkable to the lake and the store/restaurant. Sites that are up on the hill have gorgeous lake views as well! The downside is how close to the Road those sites are and there is a metal plate cars drive over and it’s loud!

Beautiful

This campground is awesome, no showers, but there are bathrooms. It is right on the lake. It is less than a 5 minutes drive to the small store/tackle shop. Great for fishing, boat rentals available nearby, AND it’s about a 35-45 minute drive to Yosemite! A great alternative to actually camping in the park! My only complaint is it is RIGHT on the road and all the sites are extremely close together, I don’t suggest this for campsite for children.

Love

I come back at least once a year to the Forks. I love that it's walking distance to the resort and the burgers there are soooo good! Lake is beautiful and campground is very nice, bathrooms have sinks and flush toilets too. Only thing that could make it nicer would be putting in some bear boxes
