Unfortunately unpleasant

The unprofessionalism and unnecessary arrogance disrespect from the camp rangers was rather shocking. That’s not it it’s like camping a hill side it’s almost impossible to get a trailer bout camping to the stops it’s so steep, the fees for the vehicles not water at the like it said it would have the advertising is NOT REALISTIC. Be prepared to sleep at a slant . Please be careful going to places do your research before you go anywhere. I do not recommend this place if for some reason you go the camp maintenance Man was harassing my a group !!(RAY)!! He said was his name an older man . Be careful

Worst camp provider ever named Ray

Came to Bass Lake to visit family from out of state I am from Phoenix. Did not expect the campground provider to be so unprofessional and rude before even finding our campsite we were harassed. I would never recommend this place. They charge for everything. if you want to drive your boat here be prepared to pay for an extra $53 fee for a sticker that you might only use one time be prepared to pay fees on everything else as well if you stay as a camper and get prepared to be harassed.

Nice group spot

Overall this was a good campground. The hosts were very friendly and the bathrooms were kept clean. There are a few “day use” areas on the lake nearby, which was nice.

Our spot was small, but worked fine for us. Site 20 was so close it was basically part of our site. There was a large family on site 20 and it was a little awkward at times. In general the sites are small and close together from what we noticed. If you have a group and need multiple spots then this is a great choice. If you are solo camping then pick your site wisely.

Best camping so far!

Check-in was fun, the great staff at the reception center are wonderful! The camp ground is quite expansive, comprised of several sections. We were set up in Spring Cove. It was clean great bathrooms, no showers that I could find. Fire ring in each site and the camp host has wood fore sale, $8.00 a bundle. Bass Lake is within walking distance of the entrance. Definitely a come back and stay again!

Crowded, right spaces, unkept

We pulled in late at night to site 47. The campground has terrible direction and signage. Our site was described as being RV accessible, but it had a very steep entrance and then a small level Pad at the top of the steep driveway. We are in a 24ft rig and scraped badly making the steep graded approach.
The site had cool Steps up to a separated fire pit and table area, which was probably quite nice.
The campground is super tight. Sites are very close. Looked like each site has a bear locker, fire pit and table. We visited on a weekend and peak season and it was completely filled with multiple vehicles overflowing at each site. We slept and then moved on the next morning.

Stunning

The campground was really spacious and well kept but just know if you show up you NEED. A reservation. We misread some signs and started setting up in a reserved spot. Thankfully the camp host was able to help us out, and we ended up being able to stay in another spot. The bathrooms are a little rough, but the location next to bass lake makes this worth it.

Camp host is awesome. Location is amazing. Quiet at night and well maintained. Spot 42 was pretty secluded compared to the others.

Close to the lake

Very nice camp host. Clean drinking water very close walking distance from any site. Water is very close so you can just walk your paddle board or kayak. Clean bathrooms! With real toilets that actually flush. Nice shade. Bring bug spray close to the water so there’s not of mosquitoes. Can buy wood from the host. close store by too.

Quiet spot with great host

I stayed at Spring Cove during a trip to Yosemite. While it’s a long drive to get into the park, I found myself thankful for the quiet rest after the busy park.

The host made this campground even better. They were friendly, helpful and kept the grounds very clean and welcoming.

The lake has two stores. They are good for any emergencies, but I preferred the Raley’s in Oakhurst. Oakhurst also has Starbucks, quite a treat when camping.

Very clean campground

This place is like The Great Outdoors movie. From the cabins around the lake to the Speed boats and jet ski noise all sunlight hours. Nice campground with tall trees and very clean.

Easy car camping, quality of sites varies

Spring Cove is generally a nicely maintained campground, but the quality of the individual sites really varies. Some of them are secluded and separated from others by distance and foliage (including a few with lake views!) and others are right up on each other with very few trees and zero privacy from the sites on either side. We tried to choose carefully by looking at the campground map and some other pics online, but our original site was a real bummer, bare and close to neighbors. Luckily, the campground wasn't that crowded, so we asked to switch our reservation to a more private one we spotted, and they let us without any issues.

Check-In: You are supposed to check in at a different location about ~4mi from the campground, at the other end of the lake. They were very pleasant there, but we were surprised that we had to go so far to get our tag for the site. There are hosts at the campground but it seems like they don't do check in, only walkthroughs to see if you've checked in properly at the recreation facility.

Noise: The campground wasn't particularly quiet the night we stayed (Friday night of Memorial Day weekend), but we sort of expected that. It wasn't overly loud and people weren't up super late, but there were large families with kids and groups of younger folks, so you could hear talking and yelling and playing throughout the evening and into the night. Several cars got to the campground just after dark as well, which makes sense for folks leaving from the Bay Area after work.

Birds: So many of them! This was my favorite part.

Bathrooms: Super clean and functional, not smelly. No showers, yes flush toilets and running water. Plenty of facilities dotted throughout the campground.

Water: The water coming out of the spigots near the restrooms was not good even after running it through a filter. Strong metallic aftertaste.

Wood: You can gather downed wood, and there's plenty of it. The wood we bought from the campground hosts for $8 was totally wet and unburnable, so you might as well just gather.

Hiking: There were a few shorter trails near-ish the campground and we had a lovely hike on one of them. (The trailhead is about 2mi from the campground though, so we drove and parked there.) The area is beautiful and wildflowers were out in full glory. The lake is also really pretty, and you can easily walk along the road to any of the day use areas or picnic spots. The longer hikes on established trails seem to all be a little longer of a drive from the campground, and we were told we'd have to pay for parking at each of them as they are all separate day use sites.

Food/supplies: There's a little shop called Miller's Landing in walking distance from the campground, and they run a diner type restaurant and camp store. The food was great and they had all kinds of odds and ends if you happen to forget anything. Also, free wifi if you need it!

All in all: Spring Cove isn't a super special campground, but it's well-maintained, good for car camping, clean, in a beautiful area, and with easy amenities nearby. We're glad we stayed and we'd go back for a night on our way to some of the other destinations in the area. If you're into water activities, it seems like it'd be a great place to stay near the lake -- you can rent boats nearby, too.
