Less crowded ocale while visiting family nearby

Visiting family in Santa Ana and LA. Not to far for them to come to us and all to go to beach. Park clean and well maintained, personnel very kind and friendly Beautiful view from our site on area B. Crowded on weekend, much less during week Campground is not associated to adjacent Frank Bonelli Regional. Charge $12 to enter with vehicle but no fee to ride in on bikes

Quiet & Peaceful

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Our experience at Bonelli Bluffs Campground was mostly positive, but there were a couple of aspects that could be improved. As a family with young children, we were hoping for playgrounds or similar amenities to keep them entertained throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the absence of such facilities meant we had to get creative in finding ways to occupy their time during downtime.

Additionally, while the campground's proximity to the lake was appealing, the walk to get there was longer than expected, especially with little ones in tow. This made spontaneous trips to the lake less feasible and slightly inconvenient.

However, despite these minor inconveniences, the campground itself was well-maintained, and the surrounding natural beauty made for a peaceful retreat. The staff were also friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience.

In summary, while Bonelli Bluffs Campground could benefit from adding playgrounds and reducing the distance to the lake, it still offers a pleasant camping experience for families looking to reconnect with nature.

Clean & Quiet

Possibly the cleanest public bathroom I've ever seen. Most the campers have their own facilities so if you're the one off that needs it, it's almost yours only. Quiet sites but still close to the city. Beautiful views if the lake during the day and the city at night.

Outstanding camping experience

Truly the best camp site I’ve stayed at in my short time as a full time traveler. Our campsite was up high and overlooked a beautiful lake. I loved the hiking trails! I will be back.

Great Group Camping Location

Tranquil campground featuring RV sites with patios, family& adult swimming pools& a resort store. This is a very nice location for individual and group camping, We traveled with our camping club and there was plenty of space for group activities. If you enjoy wildlife there are birds, owls, racoons, rabbits and LOTS of skunks.

If you stayed here after June 1st 2019, there have been many improvements after a change to new management. If you had a bad experience before that, I would suggest you give them another visit.

Beautiful, BUT

There is no denying that this is a spectacular place to stay, our site was right next to the beautiful lake and what a beautiful vision to wake up to every morning. The downfall is the park is extremely spread out, and it gets very very crowded on the weekends. If you are coming here for peace and quiet, especially on the weekends, you might want to look elsewhere because the boom boxes go past quiet time and people love to party here. Staff did not enforce quiet time in our section "F" at all and am sure it wasn't from a lack of being able to hear them. We stayed here for close to a week, never used the facilities because they were just too far away. You have to drive to go to the laundry room, use the pool or access the office if you get a site by the lake, didn't know that. Come the weekend it is wall to wall people, even tent camping on the lawn is wall to wall tents. It is very expensive to stay here and we prefer a resort where we could find the atmosphere more relaxing. We did not, for safety reason, confront the offenders to ask them to turn down their music. I am all for freedom of everything, but neighbor flying Trump flag was a bit much. I am not here to have political rhetoric in my face. The irony of this resort is they require you to sign a page long terms and conditions yet they don't abide by them themselves! Saturday night music and people partying till past 1 AM yet they say quiet time is 10 pm. At 9am the boom box competition started up again. So inconsiderate of your fellow campers! We love the grounds but cant wait to leave to get a good nights sleep.

Great views, helpful staff, very dog friendly!

We had an amazing time at Bonelli Bluffs! The views around the outskirts of B loop are just lovely, the staff has been so friendly and helpful (we’re RV newbies and had a ton of questions) the store was stocked with all of the little things we didn’t realize we needed as well as cold drinks, food staples, some snacks and a small beer selection. The place is super dog friendly and our 3 pups loved exploring and saying hi to all the other pups around us.

Great Park

Amazing park and really friendly staff. We had a not so great spot E-51 in comparison to most of the other spots, but we got a spot for the 18 days that we needed. Lots of great hiking, green grass, and tons of coyotes.

One odd note:

The staff continually said the park was full yet we always seen open spots.

Nice spot just outside the city

This place is huge. There are multiple sections to the campground. Views are better from the top portion of the campground. Tons of grassy areas for kids and pets to play. 2 pools, very basic square shaped, no jacuzzis and not many patio furniture to sit at around pool. Very quiet and the majority of spots are good size. They do have a number of long term residents at this park which can turn some people off. They are in process of trying to make this place more of a resort. They need more activities for the kids, not much. You can easily walk to puddingstone lake and fish or swim when the season is here. Overall, nice and not too expensive.

Great Family Park

We were able to pitch a tent along side our Mini Trailer in the RV section of the park. We have visited twice now. Hiking swimming, biking, and nearby Kayaking in a clean friendly environment. The park offers large sites with nice lawn to play catch and other lawn games with the family. Also they have plenty of Restrooms and showers that are well maintained. We will be back.

U do pay for location

You know fairness there are a lot of spots that are better than others some closer to the lake further they have separate little communities they do have some that look as though they were permanent residents but they only allow you to stay for 21 consecutive days then you must be gone for 60 it's nice over here they have huge geese swimming pools but I haven't ran across any kind of activities or organized activities that they offer

Good Times 🤙

Had a great time here! We stayed in B Section which sits on top of the hill over looking the lake! Tons of grass a nice pool and hook ups for your trailer ...definitely be aware of 🦨 they like to roam the sites at night! They are very used to humans so the flashlight to the eyes doesn't seem to work that much lol you do have to pay $12 if you want to go to the lake for the day. That kinda sucks but it has a cool beach section.

If you’re looking for views in the middle of LA

This is a beautiful gem right in the middle of LA. Large bluffs overlooking a lake leading to beautiful views. Sites are concrete and level, and have plenty of room. We however ended up in the middle of a 5 RV group with about 12 screaming kids and adults that were drinking into the wee hours. We loved the location (C37) and the clean good hook ups, but had a hard time enjoying the stay with all the noise.

Awesome for RVs but maybe not the best for tent camping

After experiencing both amenities this place is more or less for RVs and 4/10 as for they do have the tent camping on the steep incline and not too many sites but for RVs couldn't be happier plus the people here are nice and friendly you do have your Karen's but you're going to have them everywhere we enjoyed the lake the view the weather it could have been better over here will definitely be returning you can stay for 20 days and then you have to leave for 60 days and that's fine with me I'm looking forward to returning

Tent camping couldn't been in a worse spot

Located on a very steep incline parking is fairly far considering you have to carry all your camping gear shade is fair the bees and flies aren't too bad although you are right almost on top of the lake it's okay but like I said when we went we didn't really get to enjoy it as for we ended up getting kicked out because of the bad air quality from the fires no fault of theirs but it just sucked to not be able to really kick back

Great spot for day-tripping and excercising

So we’ve never camped here mostly because it’s a 15 minute drive from our house and that just feels like cheating lol. But we come here constantly for fishing, bicycling, and kayaking. Biggest frustration? Dogs are not allowed out on the water, even if contained to your boat/kayak/canoe/etc, even if you strap your dog to you (she has a K9 sport sack just for this). Trust me I’ve tried all the logic there is, the sheriffs ain’t budging. I get it, but my dog loves kayaking and is very well trained and it’s frustrating to be so close yet she can’t come with me. And I’m single so it’s not exactly like I can leave her with someone on the beach while I kayak, so unfortunately when I do kayak here the poor pup has to stay home. However, out of the water dogs are allowed and enjoyed everywhere! We have done the cycle loop of the entire park so many times I’ve lost count and everyone seems so impressed a 19 pound senior dog with a heart condition can rack up a 5 mile jog no sweat. Haha this pup is invincible! If you aren’t familiar with the trails they can get a little tricky to follow but easy enough to recorrect. (The first video shows what some of the main trails are like, easy to ride and very well kept!)

Now that a good section of the East side of the park bordering the RV Resort and Airport is privately owned it is a BEAR to circle back to your original point. Honestly we’re talking a 10 minute bike trail of about .4 miles now loops out 5 miles into the neighborhood right next to the freeway off ramp and into normal traffic near the Pomona Fairgrounds. Also no sidewalks so talk about going leisurely on a bike path dumped into 40+ mph with signaled turn lanes on 5 lane wide streets where you need to merge and make left turns. (The second video shows this transition and redirect, please be safe people!) Honestly this new adjustment has caused a lot of cyclists I know and ride with to swear off the park because it’s too much to ask for those of us with pets or small children. I heard there is a petition circling to ask for a safer updated option.

Also realize that this change is not marked anywhere on the trails or maps and there is a huge elevation change from the top parking lots north of the park down to the southeast side. This means unless you know the bike path has changed, your only option to get the last .4 miles back to your car is to jump on to a busy main road, turn around and bike back the 5 miles completely uphill, or call an Uber and have them deliver you back lol. All in all though, great place to relax and have fun.
