Not relaxing

I go camping to enjoy the sounds of nature and relax. This was NOT the place for that in June. It is loud most of the day and LOTS of disrespectful campers.

Beautiful quite campground

This was our first venture as a family in the RV. It was quite and easy to maneuver. We had a drive thru site that had a beautiful view of the lake. Our boys enjoyed a fire and the nearby views of the dam!!

Small but beautiful

This campground was a great find! We had never been there before and booked based on the map. We had 05, which turned out to be a double, family space. We had tons of room and a direct view of the lake. Sunsets at this lake are beautiful! There’s a small, sandy swim beach and plenty of places to put in a boat or kayak. It was pretty quiet too, since it was small. Our spot was perfectly level. We will be back with our kayak!

Solace

Because of its location convenient to Little Rock, and low traffic, Nimrod Lake makes a good camping destination. When the fall leaves change and begin to drop it is an especially pretty setting. During the off-season there are plenty of first-come, first-served campsites (with 30 amp electric hookups). Some of the campground sites are not level but there should be enough to choose from. Given that Corps of Engineers operates three campgrounds around Nimrod Lake, you are likely to find them only sparsely occupied, especially in the off-season. For summer months, there is a swim beach a short walk down a hill from the campsites. I give it 3 stars mainly because I’m not aware of any good hiking from the campground, but if I’d gone out on the water for an adventure I might have rated it higher. It’s also feasible to drive up Mount Nebo as a side trip from this location.
