Best Cabin Camping near Powhatan, AR

Cabins at Crowley's Ridge State Park and Riverside Campground and Canoe provide overnight accommodations with various amenities. Most include basic furnishings with beds, tables, and chairs, while electrical outlets support air conditioning during summer months. Water hookups allow for indoor plumbing in many units, particularly in the larger family-sized structures. According to one visitor, "Cabins are very nice!" at Riverside Campground. Lake Poinsett State Park and Spring River Oaks also maintain cabin units with picnic tables and fire rings outside each structure, creating defined outdoor living spaces.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Many Islands Campground offers more basic accommodations while state parks typically provide more substantial furnishings. Most locations require advance reservations, especially during summer months when availability becomes limited. Pet policies vary significantly between properties—Riverside Campground and Spring River Oaks prohibit pets in cabins, while Crowley's Ridge and Lake Poinsett State Parks permit them. One camper noted that Lake Poinsett offers "nice sites, somewhat wooded area" with "enough privacy" despite not being "super secluded."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic cookware may be provided, though availability varies by location. Many campgrounds feature on-site stores selling essential supplies and firewood. Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground offers "$10 per night, firewood, ice, and more amenities on site." Riverside Campground maintains a camp store that operates primarily during peak season. Visitors should check availability of cooking facilities as some locations provide only outdoor fire pits with cooking grates rather than indoor kitchens.

    Richard's Canoe Rental & Campground

Nice spot to camp and the people are Great!!

We stayed here to utilize their shuttle services for kayaking the 11 point. It was the week before the Memorial Day holiday and we had the place to ourselves! There are bathrooms available and hot showers, awesome people to chat with and a cool dog named Dan. We stayed in the primitive camping section but were informed there are also cabins available. Our site was just what we needed with a Rim fire pit and a couple of picnic tables. Richards definitely catered to us as we decided at the last minute to take another float and they jumped right in and made it happen for us. The convince of having your own vehicle waiting for you after a long day of floating is worth every dime you pay for it! I would highly recommend Richards for their shuttle services and camping area.

    Crowley's Ridge State Park Campground

    Great little campground near Paragould

This campground was perfect for our little family reunion near Paragould. We booked three sites together and they were close enough that it was easy to visit each other. It was also a very nice little campground with lots of shade and the bathrooms were very clean and had showers. We also enjoyed the little lake and playground for the kids. The only downside were the mosquitoes, but one of us had a screened canopy that went over the picnic table, which worked great. We were very impressed with the staff and the campground and will likely return.

    Crowley's Ridge State Park Campground

Nice park with surprising level sites

With the word RIDGE in it's name you pretty much know what to expect. These folks made it work. All sites are pretty level. if not level. Water & electric at all sites with picnic table, fire rine and stand up BBQ grill. Nice tree lined road, albeit very tight with on comming trafic, as are their interior roads. ATT & Verizon cell services were both useable just not the strongest..

Got here Sunday afternoon there wereo only3 others. With my disability pass the one night was only $12.79, tax & all.

This was a great nightover for us and would stay here again, but not as destination park.

    Lake Poinsett State Park Campground

    Nice sites, quiet park

Another great Arkansas State Park! The campground is small, but the sites are nice. Arkansas has some of the best bathhouses as well! There is a really nice playground and also a walking trail that you can access from the campground.

The lake has finally been repaired and they have begun the refill process after is has been dry for several years.

The town of Harrisburg is close by in case you need to make a store run or grab some food. There is a small store here at the park, but it was closed while we were here, so I’m not sure how much stuff they have to offer.

    Lake Frierson State Park Campground

    Peaceful

Lake Frierson State Park is a nice stop off on the way to Jonesboro Arkansas.

Nice trails, water recreation and quiet. The campground is small. 7 sites near one of the boat ramps. Your on the road next to the public access so not much privacy at all! There is also a primitive camping area. I guess one plus is it’s not very crowded and if you have enough relatives you can book the whole site for yourself.

Guide to Powhatan

Cabin rentals near Powhatan, Arkansas offer overnight accommodations within the scenic Ozark foothills. The area sits at approximately 300 feet above sea level with spring temperatures averaging 60-75°F during peak camping season. Most cabin options provide shelter from occasional spring thunderstorms with accessibility to water recreation at nearby lakes and rivers.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Crown Lake RV Resort provides water access with full-hookup sites near fishing spots. According to one visitor, "This campground was designed perfectly with family and couples in mind. The sites aren't very big but they are set up in such a way that even if someone parks next to you, it will not ruin your view."

Water recreation: Many Islands Campground offers canoe, raft, and kayak rentals for Spring River floating trips. A visitor notes, "Spring River is a beautiful, well rounded river for floating. This is one of the most popular camp areas." The campground divides into two distinct sides with one considered more family-friendly.

Hiking trails: Crowley's Ridge State Park Campground maintains several hiking paths with varying difficulty levels. A camper reports, "The trails had interesting bridges and a suspension bridge. Moderate to strenuous. There is a swimming area next to a historic CCC building and bridge. The walk around the lake takes you to a wood walkway, stairs and a spring."

What campers like

Swimming areas: Crowley's Ridge State Park features a dedicated swimming beach with rental options. One visitor shared, "The lake area is beautiful with a small spring fed waterfall, a swim beach area and even a slide into the water. No fishing in this lake, but there is another lake across the street that looks perfect for fishing!"

Quiet camping options: Lake Frierson State Park Campground offers a smaller, less crowded alternative with just seven campsites. A camper noted, "Nice trails, water recreation and quiet. The campground is small. 7 sites near one of the boat ramps. Your on the road next to the public access so not much privacy at all!"

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Warm weather brings increased activity levels at most cabin rentals in the Powhatan area.
