Quiet Place with Sketchy Neighbors

This is an abandoned former campsite in a beautiful location. It's free and quiet, which is nice, but the camper next to us gave us such bad vibes that we moved to another site to get a bit of space from them. Overall it's good with little to no litter, but take obvious safety precautions.

Sad, just sad

Quiet, not maintained but not in bad shape. The building part is still true, that is the old toilet building is full of trash. Not many visitors, some people fishing. Nice sounds at night if you like the wildlife sleep track.

Details: No water, trash, or toilets Town is a nice 15 minute country drive, minimal amenities there but freeway is only another 10 minutes Bring a boat, lots of fishing Have a weather app, if you’re not local storms here are fast to arrive and violent compared to other parts of the country

Cane Creek was abandoned by the Corps of Engineers

I have not come across this before in all of my camp site reviews and travels. I noticed immediately on the Cane Creek signage that the Army Corps of Engineers logos and references had been painted over on the sign even though all of the signs in the interior clearly had been erected by the Corps.

The campground was abandoned by the government and is wasting away. The facilities are not maintained at all.

The positives, it was constructed by the Corps and has a nice layout. There are plenty of trees and from what I can tell it is totally free to camp there. There is no pay station or ranger collecting money.

We chose not to stay here but there was someone camping and a few people fishing. If you want to fish and be secluded with some nice camp sites you could pick Cane Creek. It is sad that this facility was just abandoned.
