Gopher It Acres 

Peaks Valley Preserve was created to be a space where people can camp out in the wild, but still have amenities- like power (solar power generator, not enough for RV though), water, and a bathroom. This 5 acre property was developed with nature in mind, and we aimed to keep it as natural as possible as most of the land was left wild, for your hiking and viewing pleasure! Primary vegetation are Mesquite trees, Cholla cactus, Turpentine bushes, Yucca. Tons of privacy, as there are few neighbors nearby and the roads bordering the property are lightly travelled. Road was recently expanded to be levelled and widened. Feel free to hike around the 5 acres, boundaries are the road to the South and East, and private property signs to the North and West. This is a natural area, so be wary of wildlife dens, tracks, and scat.

Settled only a few miles from the gorgeous Chiricahua mountains in the charming rural community of Sunizona, there are ample opportunities to see wildlife (coyote, javelina, jackrabbits, unique birds and more have all been spotted on the property), and explore the area. From the nearby Turkey Creek (runs in the summer and must be crossed to access the property), to the 360 degree views of "Sky Island" mountain ranges, this property is centrally located to allow full exploration of everything Cochise County has to offer! In the winter, be sure to see the Sandhill Cranes during their migration- an incredible sight to behold. There is plentiful hiking in the surrounding areas, and on occasions you can spot Coatis, mountain lions, eagles, and maybe even a jaguar!

Immerse yourself, not only in the beautiful nature, but also the rich history this area has to offer. From the Native American tribes who called this place home, to the rise and fall of the Wild West, journeying through this land certainly takes you back in time! Be sure to see the world's largest Rosebush in Tombstone, you won't regret it. There are numerous ghost towns in the area as well, worth the visits!

The weather in this region is wonderful- just be wary of heat in the early summer and monsoons/storms in the mid/late summer. AWD/4x4 vehicles recommended, but not required as the property is off a well maintained dirt road. During monsoon season, the creek may flow, making SUV/trucks recommended.

Our quaint cozy Mini Motel is a space we are very proud of. It was created many many years ago to house the workers that were building Route 66. Historic charm is always a plus in my book. So we decided to perk it up a few notches and remodel it.

 Each room is equipped with its own vanity area, sink, bathroom with shower & tub, closet space and beds with 3″ gel memory foam for a comfortable nights sleep.

 If you need to heat something up there are microwaves in each room, as well as a desk area & chair, dresser, TV and blackout drapes. There really is nothing missing for you.! Also, in our Route 66 room we have a mini fridge. So if you might need a fridge, maybe for a longer stay, be sure to request the Route 66 room.

 My most favorite about each room is that you can actually be in bed and see the west rim of the Grand Wash.! Its a site you need to see for your self!

## Overview

Cave Creek Group Site is located 20 miles north of Cave Creek and Carefree, Arizona. It is a historic campground constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). This site is a short drive from the blistering heat of Phoenix offering cooler temps, a clear running creek, and plentiful shade to relax and enjoy nature. With food prep areas, grills and covered picnic tables, you're all set for a weekend with your loved ones you'll never forget!

## Recreation

At this site you'll enjoy camping, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking, sightseeing, exploring, bird and wildlife viewing, and there is even a game area for volleyball and horseshoes.

## Facilities

There are 12 picnic tables, three central grills, a covered food prep area and one serving table. The tables are stoneware consisting of deep crimson jasper interspersed with common fieldstone. There are also two large covered ramadas, four benches, a game area, campfire area, vault toilets, and trash service.

## Natural Features

This group campsite is nestled in a narrow valley of juniper and sycamore trees providing abundant shade. Water flowing through seven springs is minimal and only several inches in depth. The area has one large open camping area and a nearby trailhead offering access to over 48 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Bring your camera during springtime to get photos of the desert wildflowers in bloom. 

## Nearby Attractions

Across the road, Cave Creek trailhead offers over 48 miles of hiking trails - great for overnight backpacking trips. Bronco Trailhead further south, offers parking for 40 vehicles plus trailers and six horse pens. Just seven miles south is Sears-Kay ruin. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this site features the remains of an ancient Native American tribe's hilltop village. For spectacular scenic views take Forest Road 562 to Humboldt Mountain. Or, you can simply stay on site and observe nature and hunt for crawdads in the nearby creek.
