Perched roadside on the slopes of Mount Graham, one of Arizona's Sky Island ranges, Round the Mountain Campground has just three small sites, none suited to large RVs. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. No drinking water is available on-site, though a creek below the campground provides a source for filtering. Traffic noise from the adjacent road is a known drawback. The campground is free, first-come, first-served, and open year-round within campgrounds near Coronado National Forest. Nearby options include Arcadia Campground roughly 1.7 miles southwest. This setup works best for hikers and cyclists traveling light who want a no-cost base for exploring the surrounding terrain.
Description
Located in an oak woodland at an elevation of 5,200 feet, Round-the-Mountain campground is pleasant year-round. This campground includes 3 campsites, a restroom, horse corrals, and a trailhead.
