Plomosa Rd. Quinn Pass BLM Dispersed Camping

Gravel roads wind through washes to reach this dispersed BLM camping area near Quinn Pass, where campers spread out across open desert terrain about two miles beyond the historic marker. The access requires careful navigation, particularly for larger rigs, though reviewers confirm successful entry with truck campers and trailers up to 26 feet.

Cell service varies significantly by location and carrier. Some campers report good phone and internet coverage, while others experience limited connectivity with only 1X service available. The terrain opens up into valley views toward Bouse, with lights visible at night from elevated positions. Rock hounds find collecting opportunities in the area during their stays.

Weather patterns bring mid-50s mornings and highs in the 70s to low 80s during winter months, though wind and occasional rain affect comfort levels. "A quiet night with no other campers in sight," describes paul G., though camping density increases on the Quartzsite side of the pass compared to the Bouse side. Campers can position anywhere along Plomosa Road on either side of the pass.

The location provides convenient access to Quartzsite for RV supplies and services, while Parker sits 35 miles away for major shopping needs. Water stations operate nearby for those requiring deionized water during extended stays.

Visitors often highlighted the scenic mountain views and flexible camping options that balance solitude with safety. Access to Quartzsite amenities makes it practical for extended stays, though some roads may challenge larger rigs.

So much room!

A quiet night with no other campers in sight. You can camp anywhere off Plomosa road on either side of the pass. I camped on the Bouse side. The Quartzite side seemed to be a bit busier, but still no issue finding space. Some roads would be a challenge for big rigs.

very spread out

Tricky gravel roads through the washes could cause some rigs a bit of difficulty. I got in with my truck camper and 20 foot trailer. There's already a rig like that here and another 26 foot trailer. Like they say: scout head. But very well worth it. The view into the valley is stunning including the lights of Bouse. Parker is 35 miles away where there is a Walmart. And Quartzsite is 10 miles away with all your RV necessities.

A nice scenic BLM campground close to the town of Quartzite

This BLM is a great place to camp because of its close proximity to Quartzite. There is a deionized water station just down the road I was there in December 2020 and January of 2021 Covid 19 had a big effect on the crowd but I had a very good time not having to negotiate. The RV vendors tent was only half the size it is normally. The weather was nice mid 50s in the mornings and mid to high 70s low 80s from noon on. I will definitely camp here again this December and January.

Good Place with Few Other Campers

My brother and I camped in this general area for several days. At the end of January I was meeting up with campers I have met in prior years in this area.  I took several photos of the landscape while we camped there. It was cold and windy most nights. It rained a couple days and we were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow.  I'm a rock hound and found some very interesting rocks.

Internet and phone service was really bad when we were there. If I had phone service it was 1X (I have Verizon) and internet was basically non-existent the entire time we were there. Still it was a nice place to camp and I'll go back again.

Really nice location.

I don't care for densely populated campsites, but don't want to be off in the middle of nowhere alone either. Feel safer when there are some others near by.

That said, I started today at the Plomosa Road Campsite which had a host on site, required registration, but was free. Quite a lot of RV's there. Went 2 to 3 miles further and was in the BLM dispersed Camping area. It was much nicer, had good cell signal, but was flat and plain terrain. Continued abut another 10 miles on Plomosa Road and came across a historic marker called Quinn Pass, then continued about another  two miles and found the perfect spot I was looking for. Very Scenic, dispersed campers, but not to many and good phone and internet coverage.
