Great value as a TT member

We stayed at this property from 12/28/2020 - 01/11/2020.  This was our first experience with a TT/Encore property.  The RV site we were assigned has a rock pad, was moderately spacious, level, in full sun, and a fire ring or picnic table was not provided.  There was a pool, hot tub, lodge, pickleball, mini golf, shuffleboard, dog park, laundry and a fitness center on the grounds.  The nearest grocery store was within 5 miles as well.

    Destiny Phoenix RV Resorts

    Good place - Quiet

Convenient to SE Phoenix area. Far enough from the freeway to be quiet. An oasis surrounded by fields. Clean restrooms, pools, grounds, roads, sites. Nice folks working there. Refundable $20 deposit to get bathroom key. Did not use laundry. Stayed 3 nights. Very open, but a tree between each rig. Not much shade. Full hookups but no CATV. $73 per night. I will. Stay here again when I’m in the area.

    Clean

Large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything. We stayed in the loop near the entrance. Quite loud with all the cars coming and going. Marina for boat rentals with a shuttle to take you back and forth. Strong WiFi. Kids were able to zoom without any issues.

    Disappointed

Well we stayed here for two nights and frankly I wasn’t very impressed. The Campground is really only for permanent residents, everyone else ends up in a dirt lot essentially. Nearest bathrooms were a bit of a hike, so were all amenities. We paid for water and electric. The noise level was crazy... especially as we have a pop-up. I guess they don’t really enforce quiet hours. We got in late and finding our campsite was hard in the dark if you’ve never been there before. Lots of bugs at night. Honestly you pay $50 a night just to be by a lake and for me it wasn’t worth it 🤷‍♀️.

    Great Desert Oasis

We loved this park in the Arizona Desert.  Close to everything, yet set up to feel like you're in your own little village.  The amenities at this park are outstanding and the neighbors are super friendly.  Sites are decent size!  We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms.  This park can be hard to get into because of its popularity.  Highly recommended!  Check out our video of this great RV report on Youtube at:  https://youtu.be/gDr1Z9NGhr8

    Mesa Gardens RV Park

    May 2025

Great campground centerally located to Phoenix and Scottsdale. Was only planning to stay 2 nights but ended up extending my stay. Full hookups and laundry/showers in house. Also have a cute patio area to hangout as well as a clubhouse with WIFI. RV park backs up to a park with a coded gate so easy access to playground/big grass area for dogs. Park is fully fenced with gate. Very clean and well kept.

I booked online at like 4:30ish (their office closes at 5). The gate codes for entry and club house were in the confirmation email as well as the manager called me at like 5 til to confirm I had codes and everything I needed to get it - so appreciated! Manager was also very friendly also when I asked for recs and about extending my stay. Have weekly and monthly rates on top of nightly ones. Would come back.

    Get curb parked for $27

We stayed here 2 weeks when we were new Thousand Trails members (it came with the RV), but since we showed up the first night at sunset, we were curb-parked that night.. Which is when one of the very lovely security staff there let us know that it's less expensive (for non‐TT members) to get one of those curb spots (with electric, & close access to showers, pool, laundry) than to get a regular spot. So this time, having let TT expire, we tried this out- no reservation (I did call ahead, but indeed, curb spots are unreserved), just show up at dusk or later, and this very nice, truly chill but soo ginormous resort let us park right in the front/middle for the night. And swim. And do laundry. They put cones around us, and said we could put out our slide-out! Checkout's at 11. There's a Jack-in-the-Box .4 miles from where they park ya. We plan to use this again!

    Pleasant Harbor RV Resort

Great place to camp for the night in a RV

Depending on the water level, it can be a hike to the water. Nothing bad at all though. Has water, 30amp, 50 amp, and 20amp hook ups. Covered picknick table and fire pit. We definitely will come here again. Good Verizon cell service.

Guide to Surprise

Cabin camping near Surprise, Arizona offers desert escapes with proximity to Phoenix and mountain retreats. Located in Maricopa County with elevations ranging from 1,000 to 7,000 feet in the surrounding areas, temperatures can fluctuate significantly between daytime and nighttime hours. Most cabin rentals require advance booking 3-6 months ahead during winter snowbird season.

What to do

Lakeside recreation: At Pleasant Harbor RV Resort in Peoria, visitors can enjoy boating and fishing at Lake Pleasant. "Free shuttle to haul kayak to boat ramp," mentions Margaret T., highlighting the accessibility of water activities. The resort offers various camping options including lakeside cabin rentals.

Desert hiking trails: Estrella Mountain Regional Park provides cabin accommodations with access to desert trails for day hikes. Trails range from beginner-friendly 1-mile loops to more challenging 9-mile routes through desert terrain. During summer, early morning hiking is recommended before temperatures reach 100°F.

Fruit harvesting: Destiny Phoenix RV Resorts in Goodyear offers a unique agricultural experience. "Orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees everywhere," notes Missy C., describing the on-site fruit trees that guests can enjoy during their stay. Seasonal availability varies, with citrus typically ready for picking during winter months.

What campers like

Swimming options: Multiple cabin rental properties maintain swimming pools for guest use. "Pool was a great bonus for our family after a long day of driving," shares Mikki S. about Leaf Verde RV Resort, which maintains pool facilities alongside cabin accommodations even during hot summer months.

Pet accommodations: Dog-friendly cabin options include dedicated pet areas. "They have 2 fenced dog runs," reports Missy C. about Destiny Phoenix RV Resorts, providing separate spaces for pets to exercise off-leash. Pet fees typically range from $5-10 daily with some breed restrictions.

Clean facilities: Campgrounds maintaining cabin rentals typically offer well-maintained bathhouses and common areas. "Large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything," notes Bryan S., emphasizing the maintenance standards that enhance guest comfort during stays.

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Winter months (November-March) require advance planning for cabin bookings, often 3-6 months ahead. Summer availability improves with shorter booking windows of 1-2 weeks.

Temperature management: Cabin air conditioning systems are essential during summer months when outdoor temperatures regularly exceed 105°F. Winter overnight temperatures can drop to 40°F, requiring heating systems in cabins.

Supply considerations: Crown King Area cabins require bringing most supplies from lower elevations. "The town has supplies but is over priced so fuel up before going up there," advises B O., highlighting the limited and expensive nature of mountain provisions. Most cabin rentals do not provide linens or toiletries.

Tips for camping with families

Entertainment planning: Bring games and activities for children as entertainment options vary by location. "Kids were able to zoom without any issues," notes Bryan S., referencing reliable WiFi at some properties that can supplement outdoor activities during extreme heat periods.

Safety precautions: Desert wildlife including scorpions, snakes, and coyotes inhabit areas around cabins, requiring family awareness and proper storage of food items. Cabin lodging provides better protection than tent camping.

Accessibility considerations: Some properties have limited accessibility features. "They should make things easier for people in a wheelchair," notes J H. about Pleasant Harbor RV Resort, indicating potential challenges for mobility-impaired guests at certain facilities.

Tips from RVers

Extended stay options: Cabin rentals provide alternatives to RV camping for visitors without vehicles. "Very clean and quiet RV park conditions," extend to cabin areas at many resorts, offering similar amenities without requiring an RV.

Utility connections: While cabins include basic utilities, connection quality varies. "AT&T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 Bars of 5G+ service and speeds up to 23 MB/s," reports Ray & Terri F. at Desert Shadows RV Resort, noting reliable connectivity even in more remote locations.

Site selection: Request cabins away from main entrance areas for reduced traffic noise. "We stayed in the loop near the entrance. Quite loud with all the cars coming and going," mentions Bryan S., suggesting interior locations offer quieter experiences for those seeking more peaceful stays.
