Great value as a TT member

We stayed at this property from 12/28/2020 - 01/11/2020.  This was our first experience with a TT/Encore property.  The RV site we were assigned has a rock pad, was moderately spacious, level, in full sun, and a fire ring or picnic table was not provided.  There was a pool, hot tub, lodge, pickleball, mini golf, shuffleboard, dog park, laundry and a fitness center on the grounds.  The nearest grocery store was within 5 miles as well.

      Good place - Quiet

Convenient to SE Phoenix area. Far enough from the freeway to be quiet. An oasis surrounded by fields. Clean restrooms, pools, grounds, roads, sites. Nice folks working there. Refundable $20 deposit to get bathroom key. Did not use laundry. Stayed 3 nights. Very open, but a tree between each rig. Not much shade. Full hookups but no CATV. $73 per night. I will. Stay here again when I’m in the area.

      Clean

Large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything. We stayed in the loop near the entrance. Quite loud with all the cars coming and going. Marina for boat rentals with a shuttle to take you back and forth. Strong WiFi. Kids were able to zoom without any issues.

Was a beautiful and comfortable place to stay

We stayed in the cabin and it was beautiful! There are parks or playgrounds for the little ones, the area was peaceful and clean, the cabins are clean and affordable, and it had the perfect amount of woods & wildlife. A family of dear would come to our cabin and graze each morning as I sat on my cabin porch with a cup of coffee. The staff is respectful and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay.

      Disappointed

Well we stayed here for two nights and frankly I wasn’t very impressed. The Campground is really only for permanent residents, everyone else ends up in a dirt lot essentially. Nearest bathrooms were a bit of a hike, so were all amenities. We paid for water and electric. The noise level was crazy... especially as we have a pop-up. I guess they don’t really enforce quiet hours. We got in late and finding our campsite was hard in the dark if you’ve never been there before. Lots of bugs at night. Honestly you pay $50 a night just to be by a lake and for me it wasn’t worth it 🤷‍♀️.

      Great Desert Oasis

We loved this park in the Arizona Desert.  Close to everything, yet set up to feel like you're in your own little village.  The amenities at this park are outstanding and the neighbors are super friendly.  Sites are decent size!  We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms.  This park can be hard to get into because of its popularity.  Highly recommended!  Check out our video of this great RV report on Youtube at:  https://youtu.be/gDr1Z9NGhr8

      Mesa Gardens RV Park

      May 2025

Great campground centerally located to Phoenix and Scottsdale. Was only planning to stay 2 nights but ended up extending my stay. Full hookups and laundry/showers in house. Also have a cute patio area to hangout as well as a clubhouse with WIFI. RV park backs up to a park with a coded gate so easy access to playground/big grass area for dogs. Park is fully fenced with gate. Very clean and well kept.

I booked online at like 4:30ish (their office closes at 5). The gate codes for entry and club house were in the confirmation email as well as the manager called me at like 5 til to confirm I had codes and everything I needed to get it - so appreciated! Manager was also very friendly also when I asked for recs and about extending my stay. Have weekly and monthly rates on top of nightly ones. Would come back.

      Get curb parked for $27

We stayed here 2 weeks when we were new Thousand Trails members (it came with the RV), but since we showed up the first night at sunset, we were curb-parked that night.. Which is when one of the very lovely security staff there let us know that it's less expensive (for non‐TT members) to get one of those curb spots (with electric, & close access to showers, pool, laundry) than to get a regular spot. So this time, having let TT expire, we tried this out- no reservation (I did call ahead, but indeed, curb spots are unreserved), just show up at dusk or later, and this very nice, truly chill but soo ginormous resort let us park right in the front/middle for the night. And swim. And do laundry. They put cones around us, and said we could put out our slide-out! Checkout's at 11. There's a Jack-in-the-Box .4 miles from where they park ya. We plan to use this again!

    Guide to Sun City West

Cabin accommodations near Sun City West, Arizona include various options within a 30-mile radius. Temperatures in this desert region can reach 110°F in summer months, dropping to the 60s during winter, making cabin rentals particularly valuable during extreme heat. Elevation ranges from 1,100 to 1,500 feet, with surrounding mountains rising to over 7,000 feet in areas like Crown King.

    What to do

Lake activities at Pleasant Harbor: Pleasant Harbor RV Resort provides cabin guests with direct access to Lake Pleasant. "Going to have to revisit after doing more research on the fishing here. They do have port a pottys which were actually clean. The convenience store was a cool feature saving me from having to drive 20min to get some drinks," notes Justin M. The resort offers a shuttle service to transport kayaks to the boat ramp.

Mountain exploration: Crown King Area (Horsethief Basin lake) cabins sit at approximately 6,000 feet elevation, offering a cooler alternative to valley accommodations. "The main city of Crown King has a general store with essentials and a 1 pump fuel station. Prices are steep so best advised to fill up on gas and supplies before heading up," advises Justin M. The location offers hiking trails and fishing opportunities for bluegill, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and muskie.

Pool and recreation facilities: Most cabin sites include swimming pool access even during hot summer months. "We loved the three pools, multiple hot tubs and modern showers and laundry rooms. This park can be hard to get into because of its popularity," notes one visitor at Mesa Spirit RV Resort. Recreation options typically include shuffleboard, horseshoes, and volleyball courts.

    What campers like

Diverse cabin options: Leaf Verde RV Resort offers varying cabin sizes to accommodate different group needs. "Although the sites are a bit close to each other than we prefer, the amenities were very well taken care of. The laundry facility was one of the nicest we've ever used! Pool was a great bonus for our family after a long day of driving," shares Mikki S.

Secluded mountain cabins: For visitors seeking higher elevations, options exist beyond the valley floor. "Been to this area a few time the sites are amazing quiet and beautiful, the trail up is bumpy and fun. The site had a fire pit and in winter everything was covered in snow and just breath taking," writes B O. about the Crown King area, noting the dramatic difference from desert conditions.

Year-round accessibility: Destiny Phoenix RV Resorts cabins feature climate control systems that function throughout the year. "Very clean and quiet RV park. Most of the sites are taken by people who live here full time in either a moveable RV or a trailer home," notes Erika P. The property's fruit trees add a unique element: "Near I-10. Close together spots but orange, lemon, and grapefruit trees everywhere."

    What you should know

Water access variations: Pleasant Harbor RV Resort cabins offer varying proximity to Lake Pleasant. "Depending on the water level, it can be a hike to the water. Nothing bad at all though. Has water, 30amp, 50 amp, and 20amp hook ups. Covered picknick table and fire pit," reports Tom R.

Kitchen facility differences: Cabins range from basic units with minimal food preparation options to full kitchens. Bring cooking equipment and supplies as rental cabins typically provide only basic infrastructure. Grocery stores require driving distance from most locations, typically 5-20 minutes depending on cabin location.

Reservation timing: Winter months (November-April) see significant increases in occupancy rates throughout the region. "This park can be hard to get into because of its popularity," warns one visitor. Summer availability improves as temperatures rise and seasonal visitors depart.

    Tips for camping with families

Pool selection: Desert Shadows RV Resort features family-friendly water facilities. "Pool, Hot Tub, Pool tables. Lots of amenities," mentions Tim F. Sites with multiple pool options allow families to spread out during peak usage times.

Proximity to essentials: Position cabin stays near needed services when traveling with children. "We stayed here over New Year's 20/21 and most people where inside by sunset and not making any noise. Even during the day while people were out, it was still very quiet," notes Erika P., highlighting the family-friendly atmosphere at some locations.

Entertainment options: Cabin sites vary significantly in recreation options for younger visitors. "The park sells propane onsite which was very convenient, and you can also purchase it if you are not staying at the park," adds Erika P., noting the convenience factor important for families.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Mesa Spirit RV Resort offers a range of cabin locations with different advantages. "We were at the end of March and there were spots everywhere. One of the perment residents we talked to said it was slow because of covid," notes Diane, highlighting seasonal occupancy patterns.

Alternative overnight options: For travelers seeking flexibility, some resorts offer unique arrangements. "We tried this out- no reservation (I did call ahead, but indeed, curb spots are unreserved), just show up at dusk or later, and this very nice, truly chill but soo ginormous resort let us park right in the front/middle for the night."

Internet connectivity: Connectivity varies significantly between cabin locations. "Internet is crap, you have to spend $100 to get decent service. I guess if you are a longer term resident that makes sense," mentions one visitor, noting the potential additional cost for reliable service.
