Desert Shadows RV Resort

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

A large resort community in the northern Phoenix metro, Desert Shadows RV Resort operates primarily as a permanent-resident park, with a dedicated pull-through section reserved for overnight and short-term visitors. The layout is gravel throughout. Sites run fairly close together, and the transient area sits apart from the longer-term residential sections.

Full hookups are available, including electric, water, and sewer, along with a dump station, showers, and WiFi. The resort also has a pool, hot tub, and pool tables. One reviewer noted the campground runs "large, noisy, crowded," which reflects its scale rather than any particular deficiency. Staff patrol the grounds regularly by golf cart, and reviewers consistently describe the facilities as clean. Those planning trips and researching campgrounds around Phoenix will find Desert Shadows sits toward the upper end of the price range, with nightly rates reported around $70.

Larger rigs should note a specific access quirk: hookups are positioned at the back end of the pull-throughs rather than toward the middle, which means Class A or C rigs towing a vehicle will likely need to drop their tow before reaching the connections. Cell coverage is reliable, with AT&T users reporting 2-3 bars of 5G+ service and download speeds up to 23 MB/s. The campground WiFi reaches around 4 MB/s, though speeds vary with congestion. Nearby alternatives include Deer Valley RV Park and North Phoenix RV Park to the north.

Reservations are accepted and recommended, particularly during the busy winter and spring shoulder seasons when demand from snowbirds keeps occupancy high.

A large, amenity-rich resort with clean facilities and pool area that many appreciated. Guests commonly noted concerns about crowding and noise levels, with mixed feelings on pricing despite Good Sam discounts.

Good RV park, with lots of amenities

We have a 36’ Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed for just an overnight in late April. This is a big resort and comprised mostly of permanent residents with a central pull-through area for transients. The sites are gravel and fairly close together, but the CG is clean and“patrolled” frequently by folks on golf carts. If you’re a Class A or C towing, you’ll probably have to drop to to access the hookups, as they are at the back end of the pull-throughs, not toward the middle as they usually are.

AT&T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 Bars of 5G+ service and speeds up to 23 MB/s. The CG WiFi was pretty decent as well, with speeds up to 4 MB/s, but varied depending on congestion.
