    Lovely

Great campground for military, large level sites. Long term sites have covered patios. Full hookup, no wi fi. Laundry rooms, 1.00 to wash and dry, with efficient cycles. Lake with playground and large dog park. Exceptionally friendly staff. Quiet and we'll maintained. Shower rooms available, although have not used. You do hear planes going over but not too loud as some AFB's we've stayed at. Relvery plays at 6:30 am, Star Spangled Banner at 5:00pm, and TAPS at 9pm, not offensively loud, kinda like it. Would highly recommend and will be staying awhile great monthly rates. Great Verizon signal.

Kelley's RV and Mobile Home Park

    Originally, not for campers/motorhomes.

Although it is RV and motorhome friendly, this isn't your average camping spot, because it was not originally designed for campers and motorhomes. You are about 2 miles away from the Lake Eufaula, and it has no playgrounds or any other extras at this facility. This is designed more for long-term living and not just daily or weekly camping. But if you're looking for a regular trailer park to stay in, you found a great one!

Nice and clean, pricey vs. amenities

This place is now called"The Backyard RV Resort". Gravel roads and pull-thru sites. Stayed overnight while passing through. Convenient to I-65. Can hear Highway and trains outside but didnt bone inside my RV. A little pricey($69) versus the amenities offered. Staff was very friendly on the phone when I called to reserve a spot. Excellent coverage from AT&T. Didnt connect to their WiFi. Would stay here again if visiting the area. Might look for cheaper alternative if just passing through. We camped at The Backyard RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

    Peaceful and Clean

Point A Campground Andalusia, Alabama This is a nice campground with very nice camp hosts and clean bath houses. We did not notice any long term campers. We had full hookups, wifi, cable, a fire pit, and a nice concrete picnic table on a partially gravel and red dirt and partial asphalt unlevel site. Our site was $40 a night without any added fees. They only accept cash and check. No deposit was required!! We had a water view, but plenty are on the water. We had shade. They have several large pull through sites without a sewer. A lot of the other campers had their boats and trailers and it looked like they were enjoying fishing and tubing on the lake. Plenty of children were swimming in the water at the end of the pier. The campground is pet friendly. Andalusia is a quaint, small town that is a little over an hour north of the Florida Panhandle. We enjoyed the 4th of July parade and they have several good restaurants.

    Wonderful campground

True to the word campground. This place has trees and wildlife and a beautiful lake while also having a laundry facility, bathhouse an wifi. Not like your average luxury rv resorts ( parking lot with a pool). On-site host greets you and gets you checked in as you enter the park. Maintenence crew does a fantastic job keeping the grounds looking great year round. There is also a nearby beach swimming area and boat ramps.

RV Friendly, not so much for tents

This is an okay campground but really caters to RVs. There's a whole lot of concrete, perfect for recreational vehicles but not so much for tent or hammock campers. It's more of an RV resort of sorts.

Tent sites are cheap at $5/night but you're limited to only 7 nights. Which probably won't matter to a tent camper here, as I would think being here for that long would be a bit much.

There are a ton of amenities here, including an old softball field turned into a dog park of sorts. There is a nice little lake but that's about it in terms of 'natural' amenities. Okay spot if you just need a place to stay the night but I wouldn't prolong a visit here. Also sort of loud given its close proximity to the train tracks.

Gorgeous but mosquitos gorged on us BRING DEET

Would give 5 stars if not for mosquitos and no-see-ums that came right through our RV screens. Even repellent didn't seem to stop them from biting on one particular evening, but the second day was better. We could see the lake from our site, which had full hook-ups even tho' sewer hook up wasn't mentioned on recreation.gov. Birders we traveled with enjoyed many sightings. Bathroom not immaculate but clean enough and had coin washer and dryer in pavilion.

    Hidden little gem

Such a sweet campground! Very close to the interstate. Extremely affordable for full hook ups. Pull through and back in sites available. The only things to mention that are not the norm are. We didn't have to make a reservation and did not have to pay until the next morning. Also, no soap in the public bathroom. Just FYI. Perfect for just an overnight.

    Capital City RV Park

A nice place to be for a while!

Traveling through the area fairly often, I stayed here every other week over a 3 month period. The host was very friendly and oriented me to things I might need in the area. (Groceries, Hardware store, Food, etc.) Every check in gets escorted to their campsite, guided in, and he personally checks the water hook up and the power pole to make sure it works. Ground crews are constantly out making sure the areas stay neat and clean. The sites are gravel and are mostly level, I believe the most I had to adjust was 1.5". Every site has a concrete patio with a table. The laundry and showers are cleaned every day and work as expected. Washer is $2 and dryer is $2. Lots of long term renters present in the campground, but I never had a bad interaction with any of them. Large fenced in area for dogs, but being dogless in my travels....I never used it. There is an open field that connects to an oyster bar on the West side of the park with descent food. To the South of the park is a small pond with a walking track.

All in all this is a GREAT place to stay. the only reason I gave 4 stars is that there's not a lot of shade. Every site has a small tree next to it, but it's not much.

    Great place to overnight

New park only been open a few months. Level lots 3/4 mile off the hwy so its very quiet. Full hook up 50,30 and 20 amp. Saw a turkey gobbler in the driveway when I pulled in. Owner says there are about 40 in the area and a few deer. Horse barn is under construction but he did have available pastures.. catch and release fishpond with a nice dock..most sites are 75 ft pull through gravel and grass. I stayed in site 24 but there was lots of availability. Half the park was available , he's just opened. Bathrooms and laundry are still under construction. There were a few travel nurses staying here but everyone else met was passing through. I stayed longer than planned because it wasn't expensive and very quiet. Stores and post office are 3 miles away. Its really a big farm with a persimmon orchard but I missed harvest season. Persimmons are ripe October-December. Owner has 230 Japanese persimmon trees. I'd like to return at harvest time.

    Gunter Hill

Gunter Hill Park - Mid State Gem

Gunter Hill Park is a Corp of Engineers campground just outside of Montgomery, Alabama. Although we have not camped at many COE parks, I can't imagine any of them topping this one! Of the 142 sites, 1-75 are renovated with concrete pads and full hook-ups. We were there in February and the weather was a little wet & cold. Since it wasn't very crowded, only 1 area of campsites was open. Be aware if you're there during a string of heavy rain days as some low lying sites may become flooded. Our site backed up to a point where we could sit and watch the water. However, if we had stayed another day we would have been told to move as more rain was expected and the water levels were rising.

The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. There were also a few hiking trails and nice paved roads for bikes. I did smell a paper factory in the air while we were there. I've also read that you can hear the race cars from the Montgomery Speedway during racing season from your campsite.

There was a lot to explore around the area as well. We went into Montgomery several times. I recommend checking out the AL Dept of History & Archives free museum. Its very well done and I learned a lot about Alabama. We also visited the Memorial for Peace & Justice along with the Legacy Museum. Both very well done and thought provoking.

For a different setting for a meal, check out the nearby Stockyard Grill. You can go in for a burger and leave with the whole cow!

    Beautiful Grounds

I have stayed there on several occasions traveling with a fifth wheel camper. It's a very pretty and peaceful place. There is a small pond that you can fish in or if no one is fishing and you have a dog that loves water, they can go for a swim. It has lots for all types of campers and RV's. Its kept up very well and stays clean. If I remember correctly they have a shower room and a laundromat. Just a short distance from Troy, Alabama. All the staff are great people and as long as you follow their park rules the staff is delightful.

    Lakeside camping in southern Alabama

We stopped here for one night on our way from Alabama to Florida and were pleasantly surprised how much we liked this part of southern Alabama and how nice the park was. After a long days drive it was a perfect place to take our dog for a walk to stretch our legs and settle in to a great campsite. The lake adjacent to our campsite made for a beautiful backdrop for our evening campfire.

Turns out this 2,050-acre park is a hot spot for anglers which cruise the 1,000-acre Lake Jackson looking for hungry fish. The ranger told us the lake is stocked bass, bream, crappie and catfish and holds numerous tournaments. We really liked the setting of the campground with many sites being directly on the lake. Our gravel site was a long back-in right on the water and perfectly level for our RV. The park recently added primitive tent sites which offer more privacy and a nice setting away from RVs. Our campsite was set under large trees and we had nice privacy on one side by the other side had a neighbor pretty close. Luckily for us when we were there the park was not crowded and the lack of campers made for a quiet setting.  (Tip: Site #1 has a great view of the water and set off by itself and is probably the best in the park.)

For a state park this differs from many in that it has lots of modern features. The 32 RV sites have electric, sewer, water and Wi-Fi and cable! You can even stay for a whole season, if you want. Prices vary widely depending on whether you want a primitive tent site, site on water, or off water. Additional fees of a reservation fee ($4), 3% resort fee, and 12% lodging tax are added to the cost and really add up.

Amenities include a large playground, swim beach, boat launch, laundry, and restrooms with showers. There are miles of hiking trails winding through the woods and a boardwalk that takes you over to trails on an island. You know you are in the south when the swim beach has a sign that says “Beware of alligators and snakes, Swim at your own risk.”

During our stay the park was hosting its annual “Scarecrows in the Park” function.  For this event, walking trails are lined with decorative scarecrows made by local individuals, businesses, organizations and school groups.  The scarecrows and scenes they depict are quite creative but some are a little creepy.

Overall, this is a good place to stay in southern Alabama if you are looking for a nice full hook-up site that is in a pretty setting. The price was on the high side because of all the added fees but it was the perfect location for us to stop on our route.

    Great little campground off I-65

Ultra clean Good Sam campground located just off I-65. Staff was wonderful and engaging. Expect a former Marine to escort you to your site, rain or shine. It was pouring buckets when we arrived and he insisted on taking us literally across the street from the camp store to ensure we had everything we needed.

All lots appeared to be pull thru and level. Due to rain, we kept our Airstream connected to the truck and just connected water and electricity. Leveling was minimal (fore/aft) with no need for blocks or boards.

Recommend staying in sites closer to camp store, as they are farthest from interstate. We barely heard it from site 2.

Laundry room was clean and available to wash/dry lots of towels due to rain and wet dog. Water pressure in campground is 80 psi.

Large fenced dog park at north end and plenty of green space for walking your puppy. Just be aware there are rabbits all over the place.

Propane is available on site and the camp store has a little bit of everything. And there’s a Love’s truck stop at the exit as well.

Great spot for an overnight stay on your trip. You won’t find a nicer staff or a cleaner campground!a

    Don’t waste your time here.

I’ll start out with the PROS. Good service for AT&T and Verizon (3-4) bars. Lots are spaced out, you’re not on top of people.

THE CONS The staff here are very rude! WAY over priced for the area, Unlevel pads, wifi doesn’t connect to my computer nor phone. Sewer pipe doesn’t have threads so I was forced to go out and buy an adapter for it. Also for everyone traveling with your pets. As stated (For your dog to be here is a Privilege)

My opinion doesn’t matter but I’ll refer everyone to go to Cypress landing Rv park instead

    Perfect for RV Camping

This was a beautiful campground and very well taken care of. However, it was mostly set up for RVs and not for tent camping. Each site has plenty of space and a hookup. There are also central bathrooms and covered picnic benches that work well for groups. If you want to get out and do some hiking there are also trails around the park. Just remember it can get hot here in the summer so be prepared.

    Quick Overnight off highway

Staff is wonderful, campstore is well stocked. Sites are all full hookup pull through. Restrooms smelled like Men's showerhouses and laundry facility was dirty. The ice machine was in with the laundry room and seemed unsanitary/locked. There were at least 16 permanent travel trailers that were run down and made us feel unsafe/uncomfortable at times.

If you travel through this area be sure to stop by Priester's Pecans. They have an amazing store and factory!

    QUIET AND PEACEFUL

Driving up to this campground, I almost turned around. But, getting here, I am so glad we didn't! Our site, #34 on the Catoma side, was perfectly level, easy to back in, and a lot of personal space between campers. The view is amazing! The water is right behind us! We have full hookups here, which makes it so easy. There is a small playground area for the kids and a bath house within walking distance.

    Very nice and quiet

Right off of 65, this was a perfect place for an overnight. All the spots are pull through, gravel, and full hookup. Easy in and out. Very quiet campground despite being able to see the interstate.
